Should Brewers trade Prince?

If the Brewers can get pitching for Prince Fielder, they should do it before he grows any larger. His home run against the Phillies was his only hit of the series. It's time to give up on Rickie Weeks. Maybe J.J. Hardy should be moved to third to accommodate Alcides Escobar. These are considerations for the next few months for an offense that cannot move forward as presently constructed. More immediately, a decision on Dale Sveum will be made. He has earned the right to be considered but it's possible that Mark Attanasio would want a high-profile manager. Attanasio says the decision is completely up to general manager Doug Melvin, but Attanasio also said the decision to fire Ned Yost wasn't completely his. So we shall see. The only slam-dunk should be Melvin's return. He has one more year on his contract, and the Brewers must extend him. "We definitely want to keep Doug Melvin," Attanasio said.

Yeah Melvin put a pretty good team together. But if they trade Prince, do they have someone to replace him?

If CC came back and Prince stays, then the Brewers have the 2 fattest players in the majors... Too bad David Wells retired, he was as big as both of them combined!

These two dudes are big, but just like Pavarotti, to lose weight would be to change their talents.........not.

I don't know about the rest of you cats and kittens, but carrots sticks and cucumber sandwiches appear to be REALLY fattening!

I think he should come to Washington and platoon at 1B with Da Meat Hook--they would be like those obese motorcycle riding twins in the Guiness Book of World Records.

How you gonna trade Heavy P?

October 6, 2008  09:17 AM ET

When they travel by plane, Prince and C.C have to sit on opposite sides or the pilot has a heart attack trying to steer the thing.

If they trade Prince and don't sign C/C the company that does the after game catering will go out of business.

Especially when they're smothered in blue cheese dressing. I have a feeling Prince used slices of cake instead of whole wheat.

During the off season they rent themselves to shipping companies as ballast.

Rumor 'round the campfire says you were a history major? Any specific era?

October 6, 2008  09:46 AM ET

why do team feel like they need to do this, the Brewers are on the Radar for the first time in YEARS... why dismember the team so no one wants to see them.. doesn't make sense

Trading Prince would be stupid. He's a Hoss.

No trade, diet.

October 6, 2008  10:34 AM ET

With the money they save at the mess hall cafeteria they could sign 2 or 3 free agents

October 6, 2008  10:54 AM ET

Trade him to Jenny Craig............

October 6, 2008  11:27 AM ET

The Tigers should try and snag him, since Detroit is the fattest city in America he'd fit right in. I'm sure he wouldn't mind switching to center field to slim down a little bit, specially since cabrera's already got first

You should try and preserve your homegrown (no pun intended) players at all cost- aside from the actual talent....fans LOVE to rood for kids they have seen grow (no pun intended) through the system.

Whichever team Princess plays for next year has to have a weight clause in the contract, he is at an unbelievable and unhealthy weight for a professional athlete. There can be no way that he is a vegetarian, I think he actually gains weight as the game goes on. If this keeps up, he won't be able to wear a uniform, he'll have to wear a moo-moo on the field!
