Why big-market teams want Teixeira

With Mark Teixeira certain not to re-sign with the Rangers when his contract expires after the 2008 season, he has to be moved. And the offers should be better than you might think. If the Rangers hang onto Teixeira and can't come to terms with agent Scott Boras after next year -- umm, that would be a given -- then they would receive two high draft picks for Teixeira. That means a big-market team -- the Yankees and the Dodgers will be at the front of the line -- would get those same two picks if it can't re-sign him.

I wouldn't mind him playing for the Yankees. He has a great bat and a great glove.

Mark Teixeira is a bum. Let him go somewhere else and strike out with runners in scoring position all the time. He never has a clutch hit for the Rangers. It is always Micheal Young that carries this team, and leads this team. Another A Rod: Only hits when it doesn't matter. Hopefully, the Rangers can throw Tom Hicks in on this trade and get rid of two MAJOR problems at once!

Zewellcool, A-Rod doesn't hit when it matters? May be not in the past years but I seem to recall him hitting 27 homers, and quite a few RBIs. He has also hit a couple of walkoffs, thats what he was paid to do in NY, and he's finally doing it.

June 20, 2007  12:55 PM ET

Tex would be much more of an asset to the Dodgers than the Yankees.

June 20, 2007  01:47 PM ET

I think Zewellcool was referencing A-Rod's playoff numbers. He does a valid point in that regard, but meh. Tex would be a good fit in NY.

June 20, 2007  02:25 PM ET

TEX is not going to the Dodgers, didn't you read he is represented by Scott Boras .. the Dodgers do not deal with Scott Boras anymore, they have learned their lesson

June 20, 2007  02:36 PM ET

bring him to the yankees we will have a great infield for many years..
but not for hughes...or caberara...
possibly something with damon and a prospect ?
if not we will get him after 08...

June 20, 2007  02:42 PM ET

how about damon and henn or de salvo

June 20, 2007  04:53 PM ET

why would we want damon? the rangers are a team that sucks and wants to fill the farm system so old players aren't going to be a part of any deal. Hughes would probably be the price tag for tex to go to n.y. other than that they don't have alot of prospects that interests the rangers.

'Mark Teixeira is a bum. Let him go somewhere else and strike out with runners in scoring position all the time. '

He bats .297 with RISP and .333 when the game is close and it's late in the game.

June 20, 2007  08:19 PM ET

doesn't matter.......the rangers will find some way to screw up trading him. what they need is pitching, if they trade teixeira, they'll be retarded and try to get more big bats while what they need to do is go after d-willis or some other big name pitcher.

June 20, 2007  08:26 PM ET

Y'all can have Willis with his 4.9 ERA...and that's where he gets to pitch to weak 8 hole hitters and then to pitchers...no such luck if he goes to Texas...

June 20, 2007  11:28 PM ET

bring him to LA for a change.

June 21, 2007  09:37 AM ET

Y'all are all wrong...the Os need him

June 21, 2007  11:24 AM ET

Not only do the O's need him, but he is a Maryland guy. Whenever he comes to town with the Rangers he has a zillion friends and family at Camden Yards to see him. Come home Mark, come home.
