Gruden leaning toward Garcia

With Brian Griese sustaining an elbow injury on his right (throwing) arm against the Broncos on Sunday, coach Jon Gruden is noncommittal about who will start the next game -- just as he was after Jeff Garcia's bland performance in a Week 1 loss at New Orleans. Gruden will again have a chance to make a quarterback change if he deems it necessary. And, once again, he can attribute such a move to injury. He said Monday that no decision has been reached on who will start Sunday's division game against the Panthers, who sit atop the NFC South at 4-1. But, from all indications, the chances of Garcia starting have increased exponentially.

Its time Jon Gruden, make the call. He's at home sitting around watching TV. Bring him back to the NFL, I'm talking about the one and only Jake "The Snake" Plummer.

Garcia should tell Gurden that he will play if they get a new coach for the games he is playing in.. i still don't under stand why they benched him in the first place

October 7, 2008  10:36 AM ET

This is the kind of thing that happens when you bench a quarterback for no decent reason. When the new starter goes down, then all of a sudden you need the guy you benched on a whim to save you. If I was Jeff Garcia, I'd tell Jon Gruden to stick his starting spot up his "Buccaneer"

QFT...he should stop rotating QB's like musical chairs it's bad for the team. I've read in the past a lot of the decision is based on his personal emotions, you gotta keep that crap out of the decision.

John you moron Jeff should be your starter period

Gruden is a ****. Tampa has too of the oldest QBs in the league. He needs to win NOW or he will be out of a job in two seasons. How funny he forgot that Garcia was the one that help him get that contract extension with the bucs.

If ANY of your choices include a Buccaneer uniform....you really aren't very good at fantasy football.

Have you guys lost your minds? Garcia was benched because he was hurt, and didn't practice or play in the preseason. So he wasn't READY. There was talk of him starting against Tampa, and now with Griese hurt, Garcia has his job back. It really isn't as sinister or evil as you people are making it out to be.

not much of a choice

I don't know about that. If, and this is a big IF, Gruden ever pulls his head out of his rear end and sticks to his running game, Graham will get his share of points. Let's not forget Matt Bryant, since Gruden seems to prefer FGs to touchdowns. Otherwise, I tend to agree with you. Bucs starters make decent fantasy backups during bye weeks at best.

Both QBs were weak against the Broncos this week because of Gruden's silly fear of interceptions. The pro game today has turned into a silly game of 3 yard passes. The great QBs of yesteryear threw 15+ interceptions a season while getting 20-30+ TDs, while the running game averaged over 4 yards a carry as a result. It was a lot more fun to watch than this dink and dunk crap. I mean, Gruden doesn't even have a play for 3rd and 10 or longer, which is why he calls for a draw play EVERY TIME. On 3rd and inches, he'll pass. I hate his play calling. Absolutely hate it.

Well, there goes the Vikings' chance again!!!!

October 7, 2008  05:56 PM ET

as a lifelong BUCS fan, Garcia is the QB that is untill he gets hurt again. Jeff is a much better QB than Griese. The Bucs have been gun shy at drafting a QB since the last two they drafted high were Trent Dilpher and Vinny Testeverde, go draft a QB it can't be worse than what they have now.
