Tomorrow's news...Marbury wants to be traded instead of coming off the bench for the first time of his career...

it's a smart business move for him to come off the bench. If he doesn't insist on being a starter and accepts the reserve role, that would help to repair some perception of him. It would make other teams be willing to take a chance on him. But if he keeps this me first attitude, i wouldn't be surprised if no team wanted to deal with him after the season.

Shooting Guard????? Guess he has been saving that part of his game for a contract run.

I wouldn't trust him to sit on the bench AND not cause problems, no matter how much he's paid. The epiphany he had? "An all mouth Ball hog better be glad for what he can get". I hope the epiphany sticks.

Starbury can still take over a game after all he is Starbury.

For the millionth time: he should play shooting guard. He can score. He's good at that. I wouldn't rely on him being a point guard because he doesn't get his teammates involved and he doesn't care to. However, he is good at getting his points.

Good move for Starbury coming off the bench, we will all see who the better guard is and put some pressure on coach D to make a decision.

If Odom can play the pg, Kobe can play sf and Artest can play center, then Starbury can play shooting guard. Remember, it's preseason. Maybe he got a whiff of the D'Antoni offense and decided he love to have the freedom to jack up a shot at anytime from anywhere and not have to play defense. Plus, if he comes off the bench he won't be blamed for all the loses.

I'll believe Marbury will shut up and do what is asked of him when I see it. I don't believe a word of what he's saying, although the freedom to jack up shots at will may sound attractive to him. When the move to start Duhon fails, (and it will fail) and Marbury has to go back to the point, this will become real interesting.

Good point but hopefully someone like Jamal Crawford will be willing to put down his own instinct for scoring and become a distributing point guard.

I actually like Crawford's game and mentality and if he buys into the system (it's an if but not a big one), I wouldn't worry too much about Duhon failing at the point guard.

For some reason although I have never been much of a Knick fan I am going to give D'Antoni the benefit of the doubt. The team will probably only win somewhere around 30 to 35 games but I give him the benefit nonetheless.

His agent told him to shut up and act like a team player so he can squeeze one more big contract out of some NBA team next year.....That is what it is all about...

The reason I don't share your optimism is because D'Antoni is weak defensively, and so is this team. Defense can make up for a lot of deficiencies on the offensive end. Without all the pieces coming together, I don't expect the offense to be any better than it was last year. Without a defensive set, I think 30 games might be a bit of a stretch.
