The commitment of Orlando (Fla.) Dr. Phillips junior wide receiver Ricardo Miller (6-3, 203 pounds) to Michigan last Monday kicked off a week of good news involving the class of 2010 for the Wolverines. Michigan followed up the commitment of Miller with a pledge from Ann Arbor Huron wide receiver Jeremy Jackson on Wednesday. The 6-4, 195-pound Jackson is the son of Michigan running backs coach Fred Jackson. He held offers from the likes of Texas, Florida, Louisville, Iowa and others before committing to Michigan.

Isn't there something better to talk about in the world of college football than highschool juniors trying on maize and blue t-shirts?

This just goes to show that Fannation does whatever they can to get Michigan and Ohio State gum flappers to argue on their site every day of the year.

October 7, 2008  08:30 AM ET

They must figure most Penn State fans are the same age as their coach, and would be unlikely to use this "Interweb" thing...

So basically, we landed one guy, and the other one was going to play here anyway as a birth right? That's hardly a "haul", but hey, we'll take it.

Awwww is the red-headed step child getting upset that noone believes in PSU?

I'm kiddin NWPA, good pull UM, but lets save the recruit talk till February.

October 7, 2008  09:04 AM ET

I hate Michigan...but they will be back...soon.

October 7, 2008  09:16 AM ET

I think RR is doing a great job on the recruiting trail but until he lands that big fish *cough*(William Cambell) will really indicate which direction this Michigan program will go.

October 7, 2008  09:32 AM ET

I just hope these kids actually sign. Until signing day this all means nothing. It sounds nice and gives us hope but until I see these kids in Michigan jerseys I am not getting too excited.

October 7, 2008  09:32 AM ET

If Michigan fans will be a little patient RichRod will get that program back where it used to be. I honestly think he will help change the way the Big 10 schools recruit. Look at the success Illinois has had.

I am a Michigan fan and I am patient. Unfortunately, most fans are psycho dipwads, hence why they are FANatics. Many want perfection NOW. It is going to take RR ~3 seasons to get in place a team that will play as he needs them to play.

As for UM's recruiting, as long as these kids stay true and sign on LOI day, then all is good.

Expect another top 50 2010 kid to sign witih UM on later this month. Michigan will get the kids they need to run a proper O and D. And many level headed watchers of college football understand that what we see now of UM is just a foundation that will get stronger as the years go on. Don't be surprised to see RR build a dynasty at UM that will put Bo's record to shame and hopefully more Rose Bowl wins. :P

Ditto that..but Ricardo only had UM in heart as well as Jackson. The next kid has been very tight with UM too, long before RR was in the picture. Michigan is getting it's MOJO back and I don't mean Mosher Jordan (those who went to UM or know the campus will understand that reference).

Last time I checked, we're still in the middle of the 2008 season Coach Dick-Rod....maybe you should focus on that first!

October 7, 2008  12:10 PM ET

Michigan will be back and back HUGE! Rich Rod won big at WVU and kille UGA and OU in BCS bowl games with half the talent.......he will have his pick on recruits at Michigan....I know he didn't coach the OU game but it was his players and his offensive coordinator calling the plays.

I like this guy, a southerner that can talk about a team outside the SEC. Keep it up!

You too Warden, when did you attend Big Blue?

It is the middle of the season, but one of the NUMEROUS challenges facing coaches of bigtime programs is to continue the recruiting while in season.....Things look promising, but like a few have already stated, verbals and actually signing are very different.

A smart and savy SEC fan....a rarity.

I enjoy quoting you King, you never think thru what you are saying and it is fun to illustrate that! First off, getting the UM program back to where it used to be? You mean back to the level Carr had it? One NC and in the running in '06, just 3 points away from the Big Game. Hiring this RichieRod guy to blow up your program on the basis he will get it back to where it was when he took it over is comical.

Change the way the Big 10 recruits? What a joke, Miller is a 1-star kid and Jackson (a homer) is being recuited primarily by 5 Big 10 schools (not OSU, Penn State, or Illinois). BTW, he's listed as 6-2 by Scouts.com. Illinois has improved, but successful? Not enough for the big boys to change their ways to emulate, that is silly. Like I've posted many times before. RR had success with 1,2 & 3 star players that were small but speedy. That worked in the decimated Big East but won't fly in the Big 10. RR was only 19-17 in the Big east when Miami, VaTech andBC were still around.

Isn't this how the story started off for Charlie and the chocolate factory at ND? "Just wait'll he gets his own guys in" they said. "Another super recruiting class" they said. "4 national championships with pickleboy" they said. Whatever. Recruiting news for 2 years away is a joke...they said. And who the hell is "they" anyway i ask?!

But then again, that might be the only bright spot UofM has to report on for the next several months....that and "give RichRod time to get HIS players in" garbage.

October 7, 2008  01:18 PM ET

Is this just to get fans talking? Every school is getting recruits. Every school is getting a commitment they can be excited about. So what's all the hype? They won't be playing for awhile.

Classic, thanks for diverting the attention away from UofM toward where it belongs on Chucky's gravitational constant!
