LSU promises 'car wreck' hit on Tebow

The fight to become the SEC's standard bearer is never a delicate one. No one knows this better than LSU defensive lineman Ricky Jean-Francois, who says his defensive line getting a clean shot on a player can equate to "a car wreck without a seat belt." Apparently that goes for any Gator, including quarterback Tim Tebow. Let Florida-LSU week officially begin. "If we get a good shot on [Tebow], we're going to try our best to take him out of the game," Jean-Francois said. "With his size and his heart, it's hard to get a clean shot." When asked how Tebow might deal with the pain of the perfect LSU hit, Jean-Francois said, "If he does get hurt, there's a trained medical staff at Florida, so you can go to the training room on Sunday."

Tebow promises it will happen in garbage time when Florida is up by 4 scores. Yawn.

I bet we see more little yellow flags flying than TD's!

What a jerk. People that make comments like this should be beaten with sticks in the public square

October 8, 2008  09:39 AM ET

Gotta hate when guys out there are trying to actually hurt and take out other players....that's not football...that's gang-bangers in a uniform.

Where's Miles on this? A player should be disciplined for comments like these. It does not reflect well upon the LSU program or the school.

This happens all the time with other schools, but this just made it to the media. BLOWN OUT OF PROPOTION.

If you read his real comments as opposed to the Orlando Sentinel or the above listed Atlanta paper, they are really taken out of context. God bless the media for trying to create drama for a game that already has enough. And he did issue an apology (clarification) of sorts through the LSU athletic department.

October 8, 2008  10:18 AM ET

Those comments by Jean-Francois referred to only making Tebow "ineffective" and also included him, and a couple other LSU players, saying how much they respected Tebow. Check out what was really said: http://www.2theadvocate.com/sports/30610794.html. Nobody said anything about trying to injure Tebow.

Typical SEC attempt at overcoming their delusional "we're better than everyone else" attitude that they haven't been able to get the rest of the country to capitulate. It's a lot like "small male member" syndrome. Trying to make up for a shortcoming (no pun intended) by going to an extreme to attract attention.

GANG-BANGERS in uniform LOL... are u serious? When you are on defense (like it or not) your trying to kill the other team... you are trying to get a good hit on every play... thats just a part of football... if the other teams player gets hurt from a good hit/tackle then o well... not a cheap shot but a good hit

October 8, 2008  10:45 AM ET

Wow eff ewe, you hit the nail on the head. Question, how is Ohio doing this year? Really havn't been paying that much attention to them. Plus, why would we want the rest of the country to jump on the SEC band wagon. We have the South to capitulate on the SEC. You don't need to mention the SEC until it comes time for another bowl game. Then start mentioning, ohz noz, I hope we don't play another SEC team.

October 8, 2008  11:01 AM ET

It would be somewhat ironic to see 'lil of Rickey suffer a season ending ACL tear or something of that nature. How stupid to say something like that! Think it all day long, but don't say it. And everyone's always "taken out of context" when they say something stupid like that. What a friggin' ****..........and that's exactly what I mean. He's probably got the IQ of a lug nut!

October 8, 2008  11:02 AM ET

that ***** above was "****", not a racial slur incase anyone is trying to read something into that.

October 8, 2008  11:03 AM ET

how about "re" and "tard"

October 8, 2008  11:11 AM ET

You're so RACIAL, and a lug nut has a important job, keeping you're tires connected to your vehicle going 80 down the interstate. Pretty important if you ask me. Now an IQ of a ingrown toe nail would of been more of a equivalent word to use.

October 8, 2008  11:14 AM ET

he shouldnt have said that, but he clearly said after that he wants to take Tebow out of the game no by hurting him, just by not allowing Tebow to be superman.

I see no fault in it. LSU is not a dirty school (ala Auburn) and everyone has fond memories of Dorsey getting hurt purposely by the Auburn OL.

Stupid comment, but I guarentee if Miles would think that Francois would be going out there to hurt Tebow he wouldnt play him.
