Titans trade for receiver unlikely

04:57 AM ET 10.08 | The NFL trade deadline is next Tuesday and defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth would like to see the Titans trade for a wide receiver. Detroit's Roy Williams and Cincinnati's Chad Ocho Cinco are among those who could be on the market. Titans Coach Jeff Fisher said he's focused on the team's current players and that making a trade during the season is tough for two reasons. "The issue with trading before the deadline is the seller," Fisher said. "Everybody is interested in obtaining good players and it doesn't make any sense to get rid of good players, you keep them." Also, Fisher said, "during the middle part of the season, it would take a month to learn the system."

I dont know if that applies to WRs. See the ball, catch the ball. Even Ocho Cinco is able to occasionally grasp this concept.

"Even Ocho Cinco is able to occasionally grasp this concept."

Occasionally but not very often! LOL! You would think that he would be an easy target. Just aim for the inflated ego!

The Titans can have Patrick Crayton! He has comparible numbers to Ocho this year. Then "Americas Team" can go after Roy Williams.

October 8, 2008  09:44 AM ET

the Titans aren't going to get any big name players on that team.. they have even more head cases then Dallas.

October 8, 2008  09:54 AM ET

Fisher is probably hoping he get rid of VY and his 57 million dollar contract in a trade....Has to cross his mind..It should. Now that would be a coup in the land of Titans. Would be hard to find a buyer, but there is always someone .

October 8, 2008  11:07 AM ET

Roy Williams would be a great fit in Tennessee with Collins throwing the ball, not so great if its Young...Chad Johnson needs to do something any thing to make someone want him other than gripe

October 8, 2008  11:14 AM ET

How about Saints Marques Colston for Titans CB/ Finnegan.

October 8, 2008  11:15 AM ET

J/J would be nice to have Finnegan though.

October 8, 2008  11:15 AM ET

Plus, through Jason David in the mix for free......lol!

October 8, 2008  12:01 PM ET

Please take Roy. You can get him relatively cheap.

October 8, 2008  12:05 PM ET

wait until 2012. then we'll have a trade/firesale league like MLB.

Maybe the glare of his own teeth makes it hard to catch the ball

Am I crazy (don't answer that), or is that photo like a reflection in a mirror? Two self-absorbed receivers ( or is it one ?) who chew up teammates and coaches, and spit them out like sunflower seeds.

October 8, 2008  02:16 PM ET

Knowing the LIONS they will trade a very good player for a dead beat.

October 8, 2008  02:35 PM ET

Basically Fisher is saying we are going to keep the garbage, mediocre receivers we have and that is it!!! It sucks to be a Titan Fan and have to count only on tigh ends and running backs to carry the load, but not even that ,the Defense is the one carrying this team!!!

By the way "domepatrol" what the heck you smoking on??? Must be some brown stuff dude!!!

Shhhhhhhhhh Bim, you'll ruin our chance to get a third stringer or second round pick in '11 for him.

the way i see it, the titans dont need anyone. their record speaks for itself. but if they were going to get anyone, they should get a 2nd or 3rd receiver cos theyre the least likely to be conceited and crazy. they wont cause as much trouble. plus, u dont want someone to be double teamed cos if they get a famous receiver, hell complain if he dont get the ball.
i say keep the team the way it is, dont shop vince young until they can guage how long collins will last, after all hes 36. and shopping finnegan is the cumbest thing ive heard. hes gr8. if anyone should be gotten, it should be brandon lloyd or rashied davis, both are low profile and good on special teams.

October 8, 2008  04:00 PM ET

no way in hell will the titans get rid of Cortlan...we just signed him to an extension. I would love to get rid of Vince Young, he is complete garbage. I would rather have Niel O'donnel than vince. I stated...to freinds and family....from the get Cutler will be the best, Vince next, then that Joke Matt....I would like to get another reciever, but rumor is Chris Johnson will start lining up in the slot from time to time...so I see no worries
