Cubs sending Harden to specialist

Rich Harden will see a shoulder specialist before the Cubs have to make a decision Wednesday on his $7 million option. General manager Jim Hendry said Harden would be examined Tuesday afternoon or Wednesday. He received a cortisone shot in his right shoulder in early September and his velocity dropped after a 109-pitch outing Aug. 24 against Washington. Harden still was throwing in the 95-96 m.p.h. range in the seventh inning of that game when he struck out the side to finish with 11 strikeouts. One advance scout told Toronto's Globe and Mail newspaper that he believed Harden had elbow or shoulder problems: "I've had him consistently down at least 5 miles per hour from what he used to throw. There's something in [his arm.]"

Shouldnt the cubs in general be going to a specialist. Voodoo, Shaman? Anything that might work.

He was the best starter in the playoffs too. Yikes.

Is that coffee ready yet people? LOL

They should send him away. He can't go 5 innings every 6 or 7 days or else he will kill the bullpen. Not to mention his arm will fall off by the all-star break. What's it matter anyway. They'll choke if they even make the playoffs.

I'm wondering if the Cubs bought damaged goods when they traded for Harden. It's a trend with Oakland pitchers, because I believe Mark Mulder was already injured when the Cardinals traded for him in 2005......and look how that one has turned out.

I recommend some peyote.....or sacrificing the nearest Dominican Left Fielder....just saying...

Considering guys like Meche are getting 10-12 Mil a 7 mil option ain't that much even if he did lose velocity.

If they choose to go the sacrifice route may I suggust running said fielder down with a Hummer. It seems to be quite efficient.

When the A's let a pitcher go it is usually a sign he's done.

I always wondered if small market teams do less to protect young players arms knowing they won't be able to keep them down the road. I would. Get out of them what you can and then trade whats left of them for picks.

He turned himself in and it turns out one of the women he hit refused to go out with him. I always gave the Pakistanis points for originality with their practice of throwing sulfuric acid in the face of women who have turned them down but running over someone in a Hummer is very 21st century in a Dominican kind of way.

It's always good to help the environment. That might explain all the kids Dominicans have. Condoms aren't biodegradable

October 8, 2008  09:59 AM ET

precautionary...

and really i dont know how anybody has reoccuring problems...you had ot have done something wrong the first time, everytime. its all mechanics....if he wasnt doing it wrong at one point his arm would have never configured itself that way in the first place to be injury prone...

just a couple tweaks in alignment and his stride and we got ourselves a good pitcher guys...

when he's healthy he's lights..out

Here's a bit of advice. When attempting to tell a joke most of us try and include something at least vaguely humorous.
