Angels may look much different in '09

The Angels could be a much different club next season. The Angels will make a strong push to re-sign free-agent first baseman Mark Teixeira, but there is no guarantee the high-priced slugger will return. The Angels will not meet Francisco Rodriguez's desires for a five-year, $75-million deal, and the record-setting closer is expected to leave as a free agent. There is a good chance veteran outfielder Garret Anderson has played his last game as an Angel, and it's doubtful pitcher Jon Garland will be retained, as owner Arte Moreno sheds payroll to make a possible run at free-agent left-hander CC Sabathia.

Everybody wants CC, everybody wants Teixeira, Most want K Rod, Anderson and Garland too?
Maybe CC can close. pitch additional games, and play the outfield when not pitching.
It's Babe Sabathia.

Will Danny Glover be in the outfield?

October 8, 2008  08:03 AM ET

LOL no he will be coaching...

October 8, 2008  08:53 AM ET

The Angels spent a ton to win this year. Too bad it didn't work out for them....

October 8, 2008  08:55 AM ET

After getting swept two years in a row one would thing changes MUST happen?

The Angels and the Cubs were big dissappointments. Much like the idea of having the playoff games on TBS. It is all a little to screwy for me to comprehend. If greed is so rampant, then lets have some of these players have some pain.

The Nats will gladly take Garland and/or Teixera and should open up their wallets this offseason; I'm just not sure how they can convince any FA's to come to Washington.

Do you ever make even a little bit of sense?

Him having little sense is probably why he makes little sense.....or little cents.....get it?

I got it.
You and I tend to have a somewhat "dark" sense of humor but we do it in fun. Or at least our personal versions of fun. Why do I feel this guy will one day be described on the news by a neighbor in the following manner:
He was very quite and kept to himself. He was always working in the yard or garden, sometimes at night.

Yes, and was often seen by neighbors carrying around a rusty spade and some frayed rope muttering to himself

October 8, 2008  09:23 AM ET

CC would be a great fit for the Angels since he is a monster during the regular season and shrinks in the playoffs. Maybe Artie can petition MLB & Battling Bud to always have the Yankees in the playoffs when the Angels make it since they are the only team the Angels can beat when the pressure begins.

They seemed to constantly be changing the rugs and carpeting in the house. I kept seeing him load stained 6x8 area rugs in his truck. They were really heavy too, the back of the car was almost touching the ground. I also couldn't undertand why they delivered the industrial freezer.

October 8, 2008  09:29 AM ET

I do not understand why a team would want to pay top dollar for the fifth best closer in the game.

October 8, 2008  09:31 AM ET

I see Manny Ramirez going across town to the Amgels....they need more power in the lineup

"And the oddest thing, late at night, there seemed to be a strange illumination of light coming out of the basement windows....I thought maybe they had a disco ball down there" said one perplexed neighbor

October 8, 2008  09:46 AM ET

Maybe Arte will change their name, again?

Funny thing is, it sounds like you're describing Officer Peterson, the cop from Chicago who's wives keep ending up dead or missing!

Maybe Arte should change HIS name? Or just lower the price of fish tacos again...

That's their own fault. If a guys first couple of wives went missing anyone who marries him gets what they deserve.
If OJ had killed any of his girlfriends after he murdered his wife I wouldn't have wanted him brought up on charges.
