Brewers GM wants extension

Before Milwaukee Brewers general manager Doug Melvin makes a decision on the future of interim manager Dale Sveum, Melvin's job status must be addressed. "I've got one year left on my contract," Melvin said Tuesday. Left unsaid was this: It's difficult for a general manager to offer a manager a deal longer than the one the GM has in place. Otherwise, it gets a bit awkward, with the manager having more job security than the general manager. Principal owner Mark Attanasio made it clear after the Brewers' season ended Sunday in a loss to Philadelphia in Game 4 of the National League Division Series that he planned to offer Melvin a contract extension. "We definitely want to keep Doug Melvin," Attanasio said. "He and I will sit down at some point." Probably sooner than later. Melvin will be more at ease moving forward with the managerial search as well as off-season personnel moves knowing his future with the Brewers is secure.

I tihnk getting into the post season is of great success. But has a little work to do! but i think an extension would only give his club convidence in him, and in the team!

With CC and Sheets preparing to leave in free agency, let's see if the Brewers can make the post-season next year before giving him an extension. I'm worried that he spent the future for just a post-season appearance this year.
