Spartans recruiting Ohio well

It has been a busy week on the recruiting front for Michigan State University. The Spartans picked up two impressive commitments, one for the class of 2009 and one for the class of 2010. One of the things that many expected to happen when Mark Dantonio was hired by Michigan State was that he would recruit the state of Ohio very well. That has definitely been the case the past two years, and the commitment of safety prospect Denicos Allen of Hamilton High School (Ohio) continues that trend. The 6-foot-0, 205-pound Allen selected the Spartans out of a total of 27 scholarship offers. His 3 finalists came down to Michigan State, Wisconsin and Illinois. Rivals.com rates Allen as a 3-star recruit and the No. 34 player in the nation at his position. Max Bullough, who attends Traverse City Saint Francis High School, gave Dantonio a commitment earlier this week. The 6-foot-3-220-pound prospect selected the Spartans over scholarship offers from Notre Dame, Iowa, UCLA and Stanford.

Go lil Bro! and Ringer for Heisman!

October 10, 2008  08:20 AM ET

Warden, It will definitely be an interesting game this year, lil bro could throw a sucker punch and steal one. However MSU's strength is going up our strength, so it could be an interesting match up.

Nice pick ups, green. I always love seeing Ohio recruits leaving the state. Schools like Ohio State who are the only big school in their big state need competition.

Dantonio should do well there. I'm all for the conference getting better across the board.

The Spartans are no push over.

Michigan State is quickly replacing Michigan among the Big Ten's big three.

October 10, 2008  09:00 AM ET

The Big Ten is actually pretty decent this year with the exception of Minnesota and Indiana.

Not so fast there.....

Obama is also recruiting well in Ohio, only with the elderly and the homeless!

I dont think this kid was recruited by OSU, those are the kind of guys that come back to haunt the bucleyes ala #2

October 10, 2008  11:11 AM ET

Actually, Minnesota is much better this year, thanks to some JV players and decent frosh. Their QB is surprisingly doing well.

Well Warden, would you say the Michigan is in the top 3 of the Big 10 this year? I think not.

I'm soory it was "The Truth"ot Warden I was asking.

It wont be a sucker punch, State will run right at you 40+ times. meeeeeeechigaaan wont be able to stop him.

Toledo might STEAL one, MSU will win by 17.

It all depends which UM offense shows up. The defense should hold Ringer enough for a clicking UM offense. If the other offense shows up, I agree that MSU will win. Probably not by 17 though...

nice pick up...but osu will not remain the only football power house in ohio if brian kelly continues what he's doing at cincy

And the dead and the felons!

The Spartans appear more consistent than the past several years. The emergence of the rushing attack with Ringer has been the key. The defense has improved as well. 13th nationally in points allowed, and 36th nationally in total defense.

October 10, 2008  03:02 PM ET

Michigan State still has to shake off the reputation of losing the close games and not crumbling at the end of the season....until then, same ol Michigan State!

Michigan State is quickly replacing Michigan among the Big Ten's big three.

Is that so? That has to be one of the dumbest comments I heard today.

The kids last name pretty much precluded him from going anywhere but MooU. The Bullough name is MooU.
