Mizzou defense feels sting
Some commentators were insulting. Others were mildly insulting. Others were just plain rude. But the message was the same. Missouri offense: good. Missouri defense: bad. "You sit in bed all day and have to listen to people saying over and over and over again, 'Chase Daniel and that Missouri offense sure are good, but the Missouri defense (stinks),'" said linebacker Brock Christopher. "The worst thing was that first you heard it on pregame shows, then you heard it at halftime of the first game, then during the break between the first and second game. Then you turn the channel and they're saying the same thing about you on another network. "I can understand why our offense gets all the notoriety. But wow, then you hear that the defense is the Achilles' heel and you hear it over and over and over again ??? well, we took it to heart and put a chip on our shoulders."

Uh.. they're still college kids and obviously they don't watch halftime shows during halftime. It's good that linebacker is taking the comments the right way.

When Chase Danile has yet to go 3-and-out who cares how poorly the defense has played? Maybe today we see something different though with Oklahoma State...

Missour fan to the end, but I have to admit, our secondary scares me. Blown coverages and mental mistakes are so frequent, you cant tell if we are physically holding our own. Looks like bad coaching to me? You're right, we will soon see how good Missouri really is over the next month.....

The Missouri defense doesnt get enough credit. Everyone talks about the opponents passing yards per game being in the bottom half but no one talks about how they're only allowing 20.0 points per game. Putting them one spot behind Georgia, and in the top third of the country.
They always play with a lead (only trailing for 7 seconds this season), and generally that lead is LARGE so of course teams are throwing it non-stop. They also are near the bottom, if not at the bottom, in time of possession, the defense is on the field a lot due to the offenses super efficiency.
Also, Missouri has been pulling their first stringers at the start of the fourth quarter if not earlier for most of the games this season. They did the same thing last year, and once they got into Big 12 play they were one of the best defenses in conference, holding Texas Tech to 7 points.

... oh, and one more thing, twice this year Missouri has given up a TD on the final play of the game after it was already decided, they virtually let Illinois and Nebraska walk into the endzone at the end of regulation.
Subtract those two meaningless, effortless, TD and they have only allowed 17.2 PPG, moving them up 15 spots nationally. That's ahead of the likes of Georgia, Virginia Tech, and Wisconsin just to name a few.

I hope they didn't get it from the cheerleaders. Maybe penicillin doesn't work anymore.

All I have to say is.....Good.....man up then. Nothing better in sports than a team or unit getting pissed off and having a chip on their shoulders. We'll see what happens today when the Okie St. game kicks off. Go MU! I don't feel it's necessarily fair though when the Offense runs so quickly to judge the D when they're out there all day long and the other team throws the ball to play catch up.

It matters how the defense plays because one of these games, the offense WILL struggle, and with the quick-strike capabilities of most Big 12 offenses, the defense will have to win them (or at least not lose them) a game or two. It happens to every offensive powerhouse at some point.

I thought the score would be waaaaaay higher than this.

It was pretty apparent tonite that the D couldn't step it up against OK State. The O-line looked even more pathetic. It goes to show that Mizzou isn't quite ready to be considered the contender that the polls were suggesting they were.

ok state... tough, chase daniels... the ****? didnt get to see the game but seriously everything about this week in college ball was designed to destroy the BCS, and get USC back in national title contention... which is still weak... systems flawed, every other systems flawed, but if every other sport under the same system, would be the same, every year the same 5-6 teams fight for a perfect, first one to lose or, like last year the one who loses the "closest" games gets best team in the country... i cant buy this anymore... its not fair to let the best or need i say luckiest SEC team go somewhat clean and pick the best essentially at large team to contest the powerhouse for nat. title, f that... im tired of good teams getting shut down by popular vote **** is this canada? (i am canadian) the best should play the best for the title and the best is not who is most popular its who the **** wins some gid forsakens games when it counts

And its not over yet, Mizzu has a chance to lose ATLEAST two more games, they are not that good. They MIGHT not qualify for a B.C.S. after all is said and done.
