Kobe: Gold medal better than NBA title

Kobe Bryant was so proud of winning an Olympic gold medal that he wore it during the entire 13-hour flight back to Chicago from Beijing. So what's better, an NBA title or an Olympic gold medal? "No question, a gold medal," Bryant said.

Token spoiled boy. You know the MVP meant more than any old gold medal flour child. He just as stupid as Pacman making really bad choices. So he got muscled he wanted to hangf with them dudes in the games of big men. He wanted to be bigger so he pumped and drank the juices for healthy lives. He needs his daddy....yes that right....Shaqadelic love....too win the big games.

While I understand where he is coming from, I'm not sure that I agree. Of course, I have niether, so who am I to say? But I winder if he would feel the same way if he didn't already have three rings. I understand that representing your country is a big deal, and that the Olympics are every 4 years, but I think that he would feel differently had he never won a title in the NBA.

I not only "winder", I WONDER, as well.

I agree Hoffa.

The Gold was nothing less than what Team USA and the US expected of the 'Redeem team'.

An NBA title is something every team fights for on a yearly basis. As Kobe can attest to after last season. It's much harder to get an NBA championship ring than a Gold Medal.

Agreed w/ y'all. It's a different story when you put all the best player in one team and beat the crap out of everybody. Now if he was on a team that had nobody like Australia where they are an overwhelming underdog then that would really mean the most. USA was expected to beat everybody w/ ease. The NBA championship is harder to come by now. You gotta have a group of all stars not just one or two or else you are not going anywhere. That's why it's way more fullfilling because you went through a whole season of hardship to get to the top.

Umm your crazy Kobe!!!!! The NBA title seperates you from millions of players that pass through the gates in the history of the game!!! Notr only that you know when you win a NBA title youve beating the best players on the planet. Sorry, olympic competetion is mediocre, the team is set up with the best in the league playing a bunch of international players that quite honestly suck!!!! Ask KG if that dumb gold medal means more then a title!!!!!

October 13, 2008  09:40 AM ET

Olympic 'season' month or two, NBA Season 82 games over way too many months.

Apples and Oranges, the two don't compare in degrees of difficulty.

Kobe, you like the Gold, I'm happy for you, but I think you are wrong.

October 13, 2008  09:46 AM ET

Hes right. I have to say. I hate Americans they say world champions for baseball and basketball when they only play in the USA players only. Its not world champions. Kobe as a point, Gold medal is better because your actually playing everyone in the world not just Americans. BASEBALL world series that's kind of gay when your just playing in north America.

October 13, 2008  10:03 AM ET

If he didn't already have three rings I would question this statement. With the US suffering in international play the last few years, winning that gold medal would be an accomplishment to be proud of.

I bet the owner of the Lakers and his teammates were really happy to hear him say that...

I don't know why we are so 'outraged' by him making
a statement as to his feelings.....
I personally think an NBA title is more impressive, but there are
a LOT less olympic champions on the planet than NBA champs-

And furthermore.....if someone like Melo said it- who is a
SLACKER when it comes to playing Defense- I could see the
outrage....but Kobe is a hard worker- who gives a damn
