Griffey leaving Sox for Seattle?
Ken Griffey said he'd like to return to Chicago, but there may not be a spot. The White Sox are going to kick it around in the next couple of weeks, but his production, while decent for a part-time player, would not warrant a return unless the salary was commensurate with his contributions. Griffey would have to take a low base. There might be an opening back in Seattle, which could use him as a lefthanded DH in a platoon. Of course, he's still very popular there.

This is probably true. You know the deal he has to feel as though the fans love him so that he can perform at some supernatural level. What are the odds he pulls a hammy? Drop the salary and bring in another young player like the boy that broke his on purpose.

Is this a joke?!? He'd return to the same club that he walked out on?!?
Didn't he leave because a) more money b) he wanted to go to the Reds c) he wanted to be closer to his family living in Orlando, and d) he didn't like the rain.
Why would he move back now?

He would maybe move back because his career started on the downward slope as soon as he left Seattle. Leaving there was bad Karma for him. He may also move back because at this stage of the game, there may not be many other teams that would be interested in him. It would be nice to see Jr. come full circle.

He's still popular there? Big deal, Seattle also likes Japanese people, not really much of an endorsement. The TRUTH has also learned that Kenny Lofton could be "kicked around" in the next couple of weeks by the Sox. Not because they want to sign him, just fun to kick him.

As a White Sox fan, I don't want to see Griffey back on the south side. Seattle might be a good fit, he can still contribute a little, but definitely not as an everyday center fielder.

I think this would be a good move for both seattle and griffey. Both sides know that it won't be a winning combination, but it'd be nice for griffey to end his career with the team he'll likely go into the hall of fame with. Also, maybe he can teach this franchise a little something, because they looked miserable last season.

So the Sox say sayonora to Griffey, they don't lose much (let's face it he's past his prime by a few years) and Griff gets to retire in the "uni" (sushi pun, laugh damn it!) he played his best ball in.

IMO, where the White Sox went wrong was signing him to play center field....which goes to show you how out of touch the White Sox GM is.
Griffey would be a good pickup for Seattle, as a DH. There, he doesn't have to worry about his Hamstrings or his knees, just worry about getting the lumber on the ball.
The added benefit is that, he can play the outfield every now and them, to give someone out there a rest.
Mariners need a LOT of fixing..........signing a player who can actually hit a HR as DH would help a lot.

I like Griffey Jr. .......let him go back to Seattle where there are no expectations of winning and he can pad his stats for when he goes to "The Hall"...!

How mature of you Riggs. Anyway, the White SOX don't need him next year even though he is HoF bound. Let him go and give Konerko one more year at first with Thome as DH. The Sox should also dump that good Swisher.

I say go back to Seattle and retire as a Mariners. So far the only clean 500 plus homer hitters in the era of steroids abuse MLB league.
