Signs of possible Giants-Chiefs trade

Sinorice Moss caught his first two career touchdowns against the Seahawks last Sunday. And Monday night, he rested. Moss, the Giants' third-year wide receiver, was inactive for the game against the Browns. Rookie Mario Manningham was dressed in Moss' place. It's the third time Moss has been a healthy scratch this year, so what's the big deal? Well, the trading deadline is Tuesday. So did the Giants have a trade worked out for Moss and did they want to make sure he didn't injure himself? Perhaps they had a trade worked out with the Chiefs for tight end Tony Gonzalez? If they did, general manager Jerry Reese wasn't talking. The Giants' interest in Gonzalez appears to be mild at best. It seems they'd be willing to take him at a bargain price (reports are they've offered a sixth-round pick while Kansas City is looking for a first-day pick) but won't make a big push for him. After all, they didn't trade one pass-catching tight end (Jeremy Shockey) only to add another one who isn't as good of a blocker.

I have insider info from a dependable NY Giants source, Morris, that the Giants pull off the trade and land Tony Gonzo. This is for real.

That was an old fashioned beat down. Moss was not the only inactive for that game. Those five starters gone from last years defense could not be replaced in one year. Eli was due for a game like that. The Browns played great. Curious to see if they can do it over a period of time. The only time they put a hand on Anderson was to shake hands after the game.

Tony Gonz is going to the Bills, remember where you heard this!

October 14, 2008  06:45 AM ET

The Bills, Eagles, Giants, Vikings, etc., I've heard them all. The Giants should be able to get him. Trade away one of those picks they got for Shockey and throw a player in there if they have to.

Funny stuff here.....Moss for the "Great Gonzo"...????? Doesn't seem logical based on what Gonzo is worth even at 32 +/- How do you call a "broke" receiver for a stud + a 6th round logical? It isn't.

How about dem Gints? Still the best team in football? HAHAHAHAHA!

October 14, 2008  07:53 AM ET

Good Morning Giants Fans!!! Doesn't feel too good does it? To be on the recieving end of mud thrown at you. You aren't so freaking perfect huh? They didn't even have Winslow and you still went down in flames!! Even if you go the rest of the year undefeated, you still lost to the BROWNS!!

October 14, 2008  07:56 AM ET

Stupid Giants. Don;t worry giants fans. The browns were easily one of the best team in the league coming into the game.....wait, they weren't?

October 14, 2008  07:59 AM ET

weLl at least he'll get out of KC

October 14, 2008  08:13 AM ET

After last night, they better trade for some help in the secondary!!! Oh, how the mighty have fallen!!! What can Brown do 4 u? Ha!

October 14, 2008  08:19 AM ET

The NFC East just got more interesting. It's a coin toss on which team is going to be the last place team. Giants have a slight lead in first place and maybe more when they meet the Cowboys. The Cowboys are getting depleted. They could be the Eagles of 2 years ago w/ so many injuries including McNabb.

For all of the gints fans that thought that winning one game meant that the gints are better than the pats, well, there's your one game...the Browns MUST be better than the gints since they won a single game. Either that or there's your evidence that the gints are a fluke....

GREAT Point!! Thanks for posting that!!

NFL is crazy. Eagles beat St. louis, Washington beats the Eagles, but St. Louis beat washington.
