A marquee college basketball matchup could soon be joining the big events coming to the Cowboys new $1.1 billion stadium in Arlington. Officials from Texas and North Carolina are in serious discussions with the Cowboys for a game that would pit the two national powers early next season at the new stadium, according to Texas athletic department sources. A likely date would be Dec. 19, 2009, sources said, as part of a home-and-home agreement. Texas and North Carolina would also meet in the 2010-11 season, probably in Greensboro, N.C. The parties still have to work out logistics and sign contracts, sources say. An official announcement could be a month or more away.

If Texas wants to win their first game in their new stadium they best not bring in UNC.

It's not our new stadium and the game would be played in the middle of December. We'll have a guaranteed home win by then. Plus Texas has been on the rise for a few years, beating some marquee teams. We want to be the best, so let's play the best teams.

1.1 billion for a sports stadium. I know why the economy stinks now, and why the homeless in Dallas have no place to stay.....unless Jones of course lets them stay rent free between games. As far as a BB game in the new stadium.....it's been done before. Unless it's #1 vs. #2 to start the season, who cares other than Jones' wallet?

My nightmare may become true. These are my two favorite teams.

Two favorite? Son, you need to pick a side of the fence and fall over there!

The economy stinks because the Dallas Cowboys are building a new stadium? Please explain.

or perhaps you could find a team that isn't another bandwagon team to like - be original and leave out UNC, Texas, and the Cowboys.

or you could try liking a team that isn't like solely for its 'bandwagon effects.' therefore, try to be more original than UNC, Texas, and the Dallas Cowboys.

How can you be a UNC and Texas fan? Texas football took Mack Brown from Chapel Hill and it hasn't taken until now for a candidate to emerge to fill his shoes. Also Rick Barnes coaches Texas he HATES Carolina. When he coached at Clemson he wanted to fight Dean Smith after a game. I am a Carolina fan and my hatred of Texas falls somewhere behind Dook, UK, State and Maryland.

My sentiments exactly. The NFL is only out to empty your wallet and make a profit! I understand its business, but do not screw over everyone else. Also, I agree, unless this is #1 and #2 no one is gonna care. UNC is not gonna win it and Texas is definitely not going to win it...besides, Texas is not a legendary bb program...they haven't won a championship in bb! So who cares about Texas?
