Sam Chi, who operates an Internet site called BCS Guru, has enough raw data in hand to nail the BCS figures down nearly to the number. His BCS top 10, in order: Texas, Alabama, Penn State, USC, Oklahoma, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, Florida, Georgia and Utah.

As crazy as it sounds, USC, if it does not lose again may be in the best position to grab that No.2 spot in BCS rankings when it matters - December. I'm a USC fan based in reality with major concerns about my Trojans in a suddenly bad conference. But thanks to the good 'ol BCS system and the fact that the Trojans likely fall off the ABC National TV Coverage and are reduced to regional coverage, many voters whose opinions count for the BCS rankings aren't seeing the real USC at the moment, and just seeing final scores.

Perfect example is this past Saturday's win versus Arizona State. As a USC fan, I'll run with it and hope it continues. But yes, their is guilt involved. GO TROJANS!

The Big 12 has shown without a doubt they are the top conference.

Let's let the season play out before crowning anyone champions or any conference the toughest.

.......but it doesn't, so who cares? I really hate that when they post this crap just for the sake of "filling in the blank(s)" for something to say. Kinda like this comment eh?! lol

WooHoo, another Big 10 team for an SEC team to kick the crap out of

October 14, 2008  08:34 AM ET

Figured I should clarify my above statement before the whack jobs come out the wood work...
1) I do NOT see a Big-12 team making it undefeated.
2) I see the SEC champ going #1 or #2 reagrdless if they have a loss or not
3) Penn St will roll through the Big-10 undefeated and have the other top-2 ranking

October 14, 2008  08:39 AM ET

There is still a lot of football to be played. I will say that if USC continues to play as it has, it will end up in the top 3 if not back at #1 if Alabama or TX fails.

And let's all hope that Lil Bro kicks the snot out of OSU.

I think Penn State needs to get through Oct 25 first.

October 14, 2008  08:44 AM ET

A little early. And pointless right now. Someone has too much free time right now to be doing this, or it is part of his therapy.

Your points are good... but....

1) Texas may very well go undefeated because I do not think Tech can beat them. Missouri can score... but so can Texas. Kansas has struggled and probably cannot slow Texas' offense enough.

2) If SEC champ is Alabama then the Tide will finish #1. Any other team would be iffy... especially if it's LSU considering they got shallacked by a Florida team who lost at home to Ole Miss.

3) Penn State has the best shot of any team in the major conferences of going undefeated and it could set up a rematch of the 1979 Sugar Bowl with Alabama where the Tide beat Penn State thanks to a goal line stand against Chuck fusina, Matt Suhey and the Lions.

Those PSU boys will be moving up the BCS poll....

WE ARE!!!!

PENN STATE!!!!

October 14, 2008  09:23 AM ET

If Florida wins out, they would jump ahead of USC. Am I wrong? Just based on strength of schedule and all. That is what I see. Knowing that the strength of your opponent is also determid by games that have not been played yet. Soooo.the whole concept is meaningless..

October 14, 2008  09:28 AM ET

Agree 50 year. Based upon what happened last Saturday anything could happen. Way too early for this kind of jibberish

October 14, 2008  09:29 AM ET

Texas will go undefeated and will stay @ #1 no matter what... the schedule they play is harder than anyone else in the top 5 and that will put them in the NC as long as they win out

October 14, 2008  09:36 AM ET

Tex Boy Looking at them last week they might even be able to lose and still be in the NC
They looked strong

October 14, 2008  10:02 AM ET

i understand sport's writers need some filler from one game to the next; but, boy do I hate these hypothetical's. i love Texas, i'm a homer and believe they are number 1, but damn all the media for jumping on the bandwagon AFTER the Sooner game. I'm not worried about losing the next two games: Texas D is gonna be in Daniels face all game long and OK State is going to come back to reality when they face a team that can light up the scoreboard. What worries me is if they do win out the next couple weeks; will there be a letdown against Baylor and TX A&M again? I hope not. Hook 'Em

October 14, 2008  10:11 AM ET

I think the big 12 is very hard to win... but the way Texas beat OU and the fact that OSU shut mizzo down... i dont Texas losing

October 14, 2008  10:35 AM ET

Great win by Texas. They have a tough schedule ahead of them. I am anxious to see how it all plays out. Any slip up by them or Alabama and Penn State is right there.

October 14, 2008  10:38 AM ET

I don't give a rats hiney about the freakin BCS right now... And anyone else who is gonna go apechit over the stupid ratings right now... Needs to get a life... The only time we should start caring about any polls... Is in November.... Until then... Support your team... Get through your respective conferences.... God knows there will be enough **** and moaning about who should be where.... Which conference is getting screwed.... All that fun... Down the road

October 14, 2008  10:41 AM ET

The ONLY reason why the texassss longfarts are number 1 is because they gave the AP free hookers.
