07:06 AM ET 10.16 | Suspended Cowboys cornerback Adam Jones was scheduled to begin alcohol treatment Wednesday at an undisclosed location in the Dallas area, according to a source. Jones, working with former Cowboys cornerback Deion Sanders and a friend, began the process of trying to get back into the league after the NFL suspended him Tuesday. The league has required Jones to go into treatment following his fight last week with his bodyguard in a hotel bathroom. Dallas police were called to the scene and determined Jones was drinking. Jones was suspended indefinitely. He will be able to apply for reinstatement after missing four games. The Associated Press reported Jones will not have his probation revoked in Georgia as a result of his fight. Fayette County District Attorney Scott Ballard said probation officers decided not to pursue revocation proceedings because Jones wasn't arrested for the incident.

Good - it seems like he might have a problem with alcohol. Not necessarily alcoholism, but an alcohol problem.

Hopefully he gets himself together. It's always good to see troubled people turn themselves around.

I hand it to Deion Sanders too - most people would just throw up their hands and give up. Deion has been right there trying to help Jones out the whole time. Tough task.

Whether he plays again or not, he needs this help. Chris Carter has been saying this week he thinks alcohol is the biggest problem in the NFL. If Pacman never plays another down in the NFL again, so be it. He has a daughter that he needs to focus on more than INTs and returning punts..

Step one of the PR program to show you are a new man. Works a lot of times.

Deion is deeply rooted in his religious faith and has committed his life to saving souls..............even that of one Adam Jones! I have nothing but the utmost respect for Deion Sanders, he is still "Primetime" but playing for a new team and a larger than life Coach!

That's a good point, I hadn't thought of it that way. And now that I do, I can think of a lot of people that I know who have a problem with alcohol but aren't alcoholics. I know that in the past I would drink rum & diet coke and boy did it get me drunk and mean!! But I would still do it for some stupid reason. And drink too many.

I don't drink the hard stuff nor beer at all anymore, just some red wine on the weekends, but I never get "drunk". So I guess you could say that I had a problem with that alcohol but wasn't an alcoholic. I enjoy the red wine now and that's all there is. He obviously never drank at work, before work or on the football field but got out of control in party and social situations.

Yeah, but right now, as Deion said, he is trying to help Pacman to keep hope. I don't know what kind of father he would be if he looses football. That's his identity, his life, his future, etc.

Seriously, and I am not being sarcastic here, but the guy just isn't too smart upstairs right now. What would he do as a "normal citizen"? I think he would do more damage than good and that's worrysome. I commend the NFL for still trying to help the guy before the door closes for the last time.

Oh....now it's the beers' fault that Pacman has become the man this is......what a joke. He needs a psychologist, not a diet from beer and mixed drinks. He's obviously not a wine guy! But rather a fruit cake.

Shotgun detox and rehab NEVER EVER works. Unless Jones actually believes he has a problem and wants to do something about it, this is a complete waste of time and nothing but a PR move.

Plus, I was talking about ME not PACMAN

October 16, 2008  08:11 AM ET

He's only doing it to try and look good to get back in
the NFL...........Forget it Pac-man as it won't work. I
for one hope he does not play another down in the NFL!

October 16, 2008  08:11 AM ET

Maybe he can get John Daly to be his AA sponsor?

Oh, wait...

October 16, 2008  08:19 AM ET

I hope he gets his life together, but I too hope that he doesn't get to wear the Star again. If another team wants to try to "fix" him, so be it, but I hope the Boyz' walk away from this. Ed Werder was saying in his report yesterday that the locker room is supportive and relieved that he is gone and I hope Jerry realizes that.

Jerry will loose that locker room if he tries to put Pac back in there. They trusted Jerry and went along with it the first time, but not again.

LGP is right - a person has to be committed to kicking his alcohol problem, and I strongly doubt that in the past couple of days, Pacman has found that commitment. He def has a problem with alcohol; alcoholism comes in many forms. But this move is strictly to try and curry favor with the NFL. I mean I guess good luck to him, although this probably won't be the last time we're wishing him luck...
