Williams to get 10-15 snaps for Cowboys

Roy Williams is not only a Cowboy, he's one of the richest ever before even playing a game. Williams signed a five-year, $45 million extension Saturday after landing in St. Louis, bringing to an end five days of intense talks with the team and his agent Ben Dogra. Williams will receive $27 million guaranteed over the life of the deal, which is second most to the $31 million Tony Romo will earn from an extension signed last year. By signing Saturday, the Cowboys can lower Williams' base salary over the remaining 10 games. Williams will make his debut as a Cowboy today at St. Louis. Wide receivers coach Ray Sherman said the plan is to use Williams for 15-20 snaps against the Rams.

45M for Roy, sounds like a textbook example of gross overspending to me.

I don't think he can get anymore botox shots, his face is near botulinum critical mass! lol

jerry likes to spend money. some owners do. there's only one owner that is successful at it though. hate him or love him, give jerry credit. he's not danny or al or whoever spends the 49ers money. jerry tends to field a competitive team yearly.

Competitive is a relative term, with the money he spends he should have a few rings by now. I'd say money invested vs. return on investment, Jerry's done a pretty mediocre job at best.

October 19, 2008  11:11 AM ET

Jerry can afford to dish out these salaries because he can afford it which is a result of being successful.

This would be saying that money spent = championships, which is largely an illogical and baseless conclusion to make, considering that dollar bills are not actually playing the game on the field.

FanNation....gotta love the dregs of society.

I agree completely!

15-20 snaps equals the total number of plays that TO actually runs full speed!

i usually agree with your comments. but as much as i don't like him, TO plays hard.

Great blocker for a WR.

October 19, 2008  11:59 AM ET

TO plays hard when the play is in his direction. Otherwise he is at 1/4 speed.

October 19, 2008  12:12 PM ET

We'll see how he does. I'm more intrested in Brad Johnson's play.

October 19, 2008  12:46 PM ET

He's trying to be like a Steinbrenner of baseball and buy a championship, we all know that doesn't work.

Hines Ward is a better blocker, probably the best in the league. I will say this though, I heard TO talk about his latest incident and truth be told it sounds like he's matured quite a bit! Good for him as he may be the most dynamic wide out in the game.
