Allen sports new vikings tattoo

Vikings pass rusher Jared Allen is sporting a large new tattoo that wraps around his back and sides. It reads in script letters, "Embrace Conflict," and includes images of Vikings ships and skeletons hugging. "I'm half Norwegian, and when the Vikings went to battle, they lit their ships on fire because there was no retreat," Allen explained. The tattoo took 15 hours, done in nine-hour and six-hour sittings, and especially hurt, Allen said. It was done in Arizona. Allen, who is second on the team in sacks with three, said the work of art provides inspiration for him and represents the way he wants to live his life. "You embrace the down times, you embrace challenges, you embrace adversity -- you don't run from it," he said. "Embrace it, do something about it. It's kind of my whole thing, accept all challenges, welcome all challenges."

Half Norwegian and half poor man's Nicholas Cage.............

That has to be one of the most uninformed things I've ever heard. Burned their ships? The Vikings pillaged and plundered, you can't raid a Monastery in England and get back to Iceland/Norway without a ship.

Thank you - I was going to say pretty much the same thing but you covered it for me :)

I wanted to use a word stronger than uninformed but you know how it is. Lets just say it started with as and ended with nine.

Some funny comments here. And some years down the road, when gravity takes its toll and tats aren't the "cool" thing anymore, Allen will be wishing he hadn't been such a meathead for getting that tattoo. He got it because it shows how he wants to live his life? I guess I can't live my life how I want unless I get my beliefs tattoed across my back. What an idiot.

This reminds me of that commercial where he sports a new Lions tattoo and then gets traded to the Dolphins.

Oh come on guys, read the first sentence....it has the words, "word is". This offer seems unlikely and more unlikely that Cleveland would say no to it. I for one don't always believe what a newspaper prints as being the gospel. Do you guys really think that offer was made and rejected?

It's time for Cleveland to either annoit Quin the QB or move forward withoput him.

I guess im going to be the only 1 to give Allen props. If your inspired by a saying, or meaning and want to brand it into your skin, thats much respect from me. I got Jimmy V's logo on my leg, along with his famous sayin..it meant alot i went and got it. People might hate it, but its in the eye of the beholder.

"who is second on the team with three..." sacks. Wow. Hard to believe that a team with their top DE having 3 sacks in a season is struggling. <_<
