09:53 AM ET 10.19 | Team Canada isn't in any rush to decide who will be behind the bench to try to bring home gold in 2010. After meeting with Hockey Canada president Bob Nicholson along the Team Canada management group yesterday, executive director Steve Yzerman told reporters there won't be any decision on who the head coach will be until after the NHL season is completed. While the group will put together a list of six to eight candidates that is expected to include Mike Babcock (Detroit), Lindy Ruff (Buffalo), Craig MacTavish (Edmonton), Claude Julien (Boston), Alain Vigneault (Vancouver) and Guy Carbonneau (Montreal), there is no rush to make a decision. "The one thing when you're looking for a coach is that he has to be a leader," Detroit Red Wings general manager Ken Holland said. "The tournament is six or seven games or 12 days. It has to be somebody who is going to go in that room and make it clear that he's the boss. "It's important to have experience at the international game and anybody we hire is going to have experience as an NHL head coach. There's a lot of great candidates. We met this morning for three hours and I think the time will be the end of the season or the end of the playoffs. We've got a lot of wonderful candidates to consider."
