Browns reject Vikings' offer for Quinn

Word is the Vikings offered the Browns their 2009 and 2010 first-round draft picks for quarterback Brady Quinn, but Cleveland, after consideration, said no thanks. Economically, the deal makes sense for the Vikings in that Quinn, who is under contract for three more years after this season, already has been paid his signing bonus. And the Vikings wouldn't have to spend on the draft picks. With the trading deadline recently passed, the deal could be resurrected after the season. If the Browns won't relent on Quinn, they might deal QB Derek Anderson to Minnesota.

Vikings=desperate for a QB

It took them a while, but I think they finally get it. T. Jackson is not the kind of QB you really want to run out there as your starter. Probably not as your back up either.

October 19, 2008  09:38 AM ET

Wow the browns are stupid.

Just so you guys know, NO backup QB is worth more than two first rounders.

Agreed, especially considering the back up QB is from Notre Dame. Who besides Montana has ever been more tan a lump of bituminous coal? If someone throws out Steve Buerlein, I'll beotch slap them..........

Tan in Cleveland = fake in bake

Brady is so pretty

Nor Goober Frerotte.

I would have taken that trade if I was Cleveland

Yes he is, the only things prettier are his three Lombardi trophies and his two Superbowl MVP trophies. don't hate the man 'cause he bangs the hottest chicks, hate Brady Quinn 'cause he's not gonna do crap in the pros (see my previous post on this thread about ND QBs).

October 19, 2008  10:13 AM ET

I dont hate on the man I just want him to tell the truth.

He doesn't drink his myoplex until after he gets his 12 minutes of UV burn ("now im done")

That and you gotta love the frowns on the sideline

"Nor Goober Frerotte. "...Agreed. Which shows you what they really think of T. Jackson.

Agreed...but saying the Browns are stupid is like saying the sky is blue.

October 19, 2008  10:37 AM ET

why oh why did the vikings make zero attempts to land a qb in the off-season..

Okay, that was funny!

The Browns barely had a draft this past off-season and Brady Quinn has never started a game. Take the two first-rounders and stick with Derek Anderson!

While i agree it seems to me that Brady would be a good fit for the Vikings as the two they have are not all that good and even though he is unproven on the big stage yet i think Quinn will be a surprise to all those teams that passed on him in the draft.Being passed over is usually great motivation for any rookie.(see Randy Moss v Cowboys 1998, three catches three TDs) against a team that passed him over and look and Randy now!

Um, Brady turned moss form a criminal malcontent into a top notch receiver, check out Mr. Moss' numbers the last few years prior to him being resurrected by the Brady-led Patriots. nice try though.

wasn't Tom Brady a back-up once.
I'm sure there are 20 other examples of back-ups being worth 2 first rounders.

October 19, 2008  11:11 AM ET

The Browns are really, really dumb. Two 1st rounders for an unproven backup QB?

They do need the picks though - that defense needs help.

I believe nearly everyone was a back-up initially, unless your team really stinks and you're devoid of a quarterback. Quinn has been a back-up for what two years? Behind an erratic Derek Anderson?
