Two more Georgia players arrested
Georgia defensive tackle Brandon Wood will not play against LSU this week after being arrested early Sunday on a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol. "He made that mistake, and he'll pay the price," Georgia coach Mark Richt said Sunday afternoon. "He certainly won't be playing in this ball game coming up here." Richt said athletics association policy requires a one-game suspension, but the coach was non-committal on whether Wood would be allowed to play against Florida on Nov. 1. Wood was one of two Georgia football players arrested by University of Georgia police in separate incidents after Saturday's win over Vanderbilt, according to the Athens-Clarke County jail's booking report. Offensive tackle Vince Vance -- out for the season with a knee injury -- was arrested for not having a valid driver's license and booked into the jail at 9:29 p.m. Saturday. Vance, 21, was released on a $500 bond about an hour later.

Does UGA have an onsite bail bondsman in the athletic department? Maybe they should consider it!

Pretty soon Georgia is going to need Randy Shannon to come clean up their program like he did Miami's.

Every kid deserves a second chance. ND gave one to Will Yeatman after his DUI, and when he violated his probation they tossed his butt off the team!

University cops made the arrest... must be new guys that didn't read the section of the manual that says football players who are drunk are to be escorted home, not to the slammer.

This is where I give Charlie Weis credit, they could really have used Yeatman against North Carolina but kept him off the field until the final decision was made. It's a tough call dealing with these kids, which is why I think you have to set up procedures and then stick to them no matter who the kid or the opponent are.

It appears that Bobby Bowden taught Mark Richt EVERYTHING he knows back at Florida State with the Criminoles.

Thugs tend to be good athletes...just an observation. Kids tend to make stupid mistakes. Richt is a good coach with a clean program. Win or get the boot...ask Tommy Bowden. Until programs start writing million dollar paychecks for good graduation rates instead of championships, all programs will have these problems...even those considered the best coaches in the game. Bowden and Paterno have the most wins without immunity from stupid kid mistakes. As for Ryan Stevenson's comment...it is better to keep your thoughts to yourself and let people think your are stupid, than to put it in writing and prove it! The Big 12 has certainly narrowed the gap, but until the National Champion is from outside of the SEC...recognize the SEC as the strongest conference in the country!

I don't know about the thug definition. What alot of these players have in common is that in HS they were the studs of the team, and often got a free pass on stuff. I know at my school the stud players, especially football and BBall, were given special treatment. Able to come and go from class without explanation, subpar papers, and a decent GPA with no real effort. My best friend was one of these and he knew what was going on with school work but didn't flaunt it. Point is, alot of these guys have never been held accountable for their actions and sooner or later it catches up to them and they have to pay the price.

Richt oughta go on a bender in BR while he's down there. Go to the Chimes get some crawfish etoufee`, boudain balls, blackened alligator tail. Consume as much wonderful international brew as he could. Then - no harm - no foul.
Welcome Mark! You're always welcome here, Ma Man. Just go easy on us and only beat us by 20.
I would do shots w/ Richt. Wouldn't You!?!?!
