Badgers name new starting QB
In a move that appears curious, quarterback Dustin Sherer on Monday was named the Wisconsin starter. Sophomore Scott Tolzien and senior Allan Evridge, who started UW's first six games, are listed on the depth chart as co-backups. However, according to coach Bret Bielema, Tolzien will get most of the reps not given to Sherer during practice this week. "We'll give a large amount of the reps outside of the ones Dustin gets to Scott Tolzien," Bielema said, "and watch him continue to progress." That appears to leave Evridge as the odd man out. Evridge completed 53.8% of his passes for 949 yards with five touchdowns and five interceptions. He also lost four fumbles in three league games. Although Sherer is the designated starter this week, he has not been assured he will keep the job the rest of the season.
