Florida coach Urban Meyer confirmed reports Tuesday that redshirt sophomore RB Mon Williams will transfer but said it is not a bad situation. "We wish him the best," he said. "Not everything always works out. He's a good guy, a good kid. No issues with us." Meyer said if asked, he would help Williams find a transfer location.

Just didn't work out. Hopefully the kid latches on somewhere else.

October 22, 2008  09:57 AM ET

Not a Florida fan... But good call on this one coach... Just because it didn't work there... Your not holding the kid hostage... Nice

October 22, 2008  10:21 AM ET

mon should look at going the d-1aa route ie: app st, furman, georgia southern...etc.

October 22, 2008  10:46 AM ET

Why would any running back stay at Florida? Meyer never uses them well. It is good of Meyer to let him go though.

October 22, 2008  11:15 AM ET

I don't like Urban Meyer, but at least he didn't come out with a flakey line like Bobby Bowden did to not allow that tight end leave after his mother had a health condition. So what if a kid can benefit a team. At least he would be putting himself in abetter position than the one he left, and possibly increasing his chances of getting to the NFL. After all it will take 10 more players to beat you even if you allowed the kid to transsfer within the conference

Um, did you watch last game against LSU? There was a lot of running between the tackles, and Tebow didn't do it!
I wish Mon Williams the best. Good call on the transfer. Hope this will quiet some of Meyer's critics about his recruiting style.

#5, you have no idea what you are talking about. Warren left because he got homesick and missed his boo-friend. Bowden - and most coaches - generally let kids out of schollies for legitimate reasons. FSU doesnt play Tenn and there was no reason to worry about ever playing against Warren. This was a case of a kid who simply changed his mind after commitment and he hid behind a convenient excuse to make his case seem stronger than it was. His mother had improved since he signed his LOI

Urban Meyer has a good report from his players as to how they feel about him. They feel Meyer cares for them and it seems to be true. Why should anyone be surprised Meyer let Williams go, the Gator backfield is now getting crowded with great players running the ball. With Harvin, Moody, Demps, and Rainey there is simply no room for Williams who happens to be talented himself! I wish him luck and hope he doesn't go to a weak dII school he's too talented for that!

October 22, 2008  12:22 PM ET

Urban Meyers is the best coach I know of, that makes the players feel like one of the family. He looks out for their education, well being (family-girlfriend issues, inc.) and knowledge of the game. # 5 -Read the book " The Urban Meyer Way" and you will know just how great of a coach he is!!!

All you gator fans on this post in favor of making the Urban Legend ... urr ... Oscar Meyer ... I mean ... Urban Meyer the messiah and Tim Teabow superman say "I" ..... ok, ok, not so loud ... now let me enlightened you to the real world in that Meyer isn't always looked upon so favorably. Plus, I don't know why a team that went 9-4 last season is hyped so much, and don't tell me it is because the team is so talented. Talent is one thing, performance is another. The jury is out until the end of the season so don't get too far ahead of yourselves. Meyer's inconsistencies will eventually catch up with him; some of it has begun already. This isn't the first player to bail. If I really wanted to read into the situation I could make an argument Meyer went out of his way to make sure nobody thought anything negative about this transfer. Why would he feel a need to do so? So take off those rose colored glasses, see the situation for what it is and, hey, guess what, we are all human. Lets just hope gators don't end up in the Outback Bowl ...again!

i agree with you gregory the same can be said for lsu fans about les miles i call him 2 loss les miles because he always has 2 losses every year and this year will be no different because alabama will beat them but urban meyer did show some class by letting the guy transfer without letting him have to sit out a year i don't like that rule because a kid only gets 4 years of college and sometimes 5 years so they should be able to transfer to a better situation if it comes around

October 22, 2008  01:41 PM ET

Interesting story. I wondered what happend to him, saw him play in high school. Hope he finds a good spot.

October 22, 2008  02:26 PM ET

Gregory1961...your just really, really stupid. and go tide, nice to see you out talking because Alabama is decent for the first time in about a decade. greg, so you a nole' or a cane'? if your answer is either one then that just shows how stupid you really are.

October 22, 2008  02:39 PM ET

Greg you are a Profit.... not! So because a player wants to leave a program in search of more playing time automatically means there is an issue with the program? Hmmmm let's see Moody left USC and a few others as well, did the fall of Troy occur? Nope! That's what happens when you have too much talent on a team. Name one player the Meyer brought into Florida that transferred because they were unhappy with him. The ones that left were either Zook's (Jarrod Fayson) recruits or just college misfits. (see Taurean Charles) Yes Florida went 9-4 with a team that was almost 70% underclassmen.... Yep Florida is falling off the map. Get a clue and get your head out of your ****. Notice in the entire post I didn't mention "who is your team?" You wanna know why? Because i'm sure they are irrelevant to the map of college football!

October 22, 2008  02:42 PM ET

Tito, His mother had improved? Who are you her doctor? Don't buy the lines the Noles will try and sell you on that one. His mom had cancer something a person deals with daily for the rest of their lives regardless of improvement or not. COmments like yours are stupid and classless and fit the Nole nation perfectly.

Gregory, Jealous much? That 9-4 team last year was talented and VERY young. It was quite evident in the way the defense played and how much better they are playing this year. Also that team dominated your Noles 45-12 and that awful defense held the Noles without a TD. I guess you will say the Noles have improved this year and things will be different right? You know performance is key right? Why cling to what teams other than yours couldn't do from a season that is almost a full year in the past?

October 22, 2008  05:16 PM ET

urban is good guy even though i route for there opponents. it has something to do with me not accepting a possible scholarship for track, and walking on for football, but that ancient history (2000). ......anyway. I would love the kid to go to Illinois and 2 years later the play Ron Zook in the fiestal bowl and williams would be he featured runningback

Didn't they win the National Championship in 2006? You sound like a bitter, angry and jealous person.

sethgator, that would be "...YOU'RE just really, really stupid...". Ah, the irony of being called stupid by someone who actually is...

that just shows how bad you want to get a jab in at me with all the gramatical errors in every post it's funny how you find the one I make and apparently think either that you're cool or a very "knowledgeable" person for pointing out my simple error. but I guess that is a moral victory huh? try and figure out why being a nole fan sucks so much and more than that figure out why your team sucks so much and then lets talk. but for now I'll take the fsu beatdowns at the hands of the gators over you pointing out gramatical errors. enjoy the fruits of your labor. remember I said it, but everyone is thinking it...FSU SUCKS FAT C*CK.
