Hurricanes tired of QB controversy
In his five years at the University of Miami, offensive lineman Chris Rutledge has not been someone to make a whole lot not of noise when it comes to dealing with the media. The big 6-5, 311-pound right tackle has been more like a big teddy bear -- quiet and cuddly. But it should tell you just how tired it appears this UM football team is becoming with the quarterback drama developing publicly about Robert Marve and Jacory Harris when even Rutledge is voicing his displeasure with the questions being asked of his QBs. Rutledge started his mockery of the media: "Hey Jacory are you tired of being the backup to Robert Marve?," Rutledge shouted. "Jacory shouldn't you be starting? Jacory do you get mad when you go back to the bench? Hey Jacory? Jacory?" A collection of teammates sitting next to Rutledge got a nice chuckle out of the whole performance. But the truth is, this quarterback drama is going to become a lot like a tired joke if it isn't already.

Well, until one of them really steps up,this is going to happen...Harris had a nice game off the bench against Duke..I say give him a start and see how he plays

i agree with the above
they are both going to play so i dont see what the drama is?
harris should get the nod though, just based on his performance last game, and marve can come in on the 3rd series

based on his performances against CHARLESTON SOUTHERN and DUKE, Harris should get the job. svtjer smoke the good stuff and lay off that schwag, Coral Springs is close enough to Miami to get some funk I'd hope. cause' you've been smoking something of very low quality.

Prediction: Jacory Harris will earn the job outright by year's end. Robert Marve will return home to become the USF Bull's starter in 2010.

And it's just going to get worse. I know that Randy Shannon has recruited some serious talent down there at Miami, there is no doubt this guy can recruit South Florida. Yet, i have major doubts about this guys ability to be a head coach at the college level. You need to win, and do it consistently at the University of Miami because your competition is and nobody wants to play for a losing team in the ACC!

Play both. Eventually one will step up and be the guy.

I consider this is relatively positive issue (problem?). Having to choose between two (2) talented QB's is hardly the biggest issue facing the Canes. I like them both getting plenty of reps throughout the season, that way they both enter camp next year with no excuses. The better QB will emerge then.

I haven't watched enough games to have an informed opinion, so I'm asking if O-line is giving both guys enough time or is it that they just aren't reading defenses fast enough because of their inexperience. I ask because one would think that oline should improve and as such I'd go with QB who can read defenses better even though at the moment the one with better legs might outperform him.

Another solid point - O-line is young and inexperienced to say the least.

It is good for both of them get the reps. But at some point, one of them needs to step-up and become the clear leader for the team. Otherwise, the distractions will keep them (the team and the QB's) back.

That's a really interesting scenario. I doubt it will happen, but I think you should contact Marve and suggest it to him anyway. Being a highly-recruited hometown boy, Marve would be worshipped by Bulls fans. Nice idea!

yeah he's played in every single game this year, but has only made an impact against CSU and Duke in the other games he has been medicore at best.

Randy Shannon needs to do a better job as a head coach. Starting Marve and then playing Harris when Marve struggles is a good Idea but there are times when he brings Harris in he needs to let Marve settle down not bench him. Randy Shannon needs to hold his Coordinators accountable to include himself, especially on all the games that they lost that they could have won. I agree that this year looks better than last year due to the better talent but if you lose close games when you have better talent then it???s the coaching. I am not there yet in accepting that we are just losing these games base on young and inexperience players. I was expecting more from Randy Shannon as a Head Coach this year. Getting to a bowl game is in our reach but I was expecting a bigger impact on the ACC then the one we are making. The next five games should give this team a strong indication on their strength and on their weakness on improving for next year, to include their coaches.

Look I think it is fair to say that Shannon is learning on the fly too here. The hope for you UM fans is that he does learn. I'm not sure what his best move is with his QBs but the point of my blog is this, BE THANKFUL!!! the ACC is so down this year that you are being allowed time. If the ACC was not so weak this year there would be so much more pressure on Shannon and the QBs. I know you feel frustrated but it could be a lot worse. With as bad as it has been the ACC is still there for the taking so again I say be thankful that the stars are aligned. could you imagine what it would be like right now for UM if they were in the Big12 or SEC. I'm not sure Shannon would withstand that. hey take a deep breath and be thankful is all I can say as an outsider.
