Why a kicker would be afraid to play for Rodriguez's new "spread offense" is utterly ridiculous. Something else is happening to the once proud tradition at Michigan.

He was at the Penn State/Michigan game on Saturday. Penn State has always had a good kicking game. Our last kicker, Gould, plays for the Bears. Our current kicker just set a Big Ten scoring record and he'll be headed to the NFL too.

If anyone saw the PSU/Michigan game on Saturday - kicking is definitely a problem for Michigan.

Fera wasn't scared. He just didn't have UM in his heart like he did PSU. It might have been more of his parents wanting him to go to UM. Plus he wanted to go to the biz school and UM doesn't have the open admissions policy like other schools. The kid just is going where his heart is telling him to go. I don't blame him. Michigan will find their kicker.

I don't think anyone is "afraid" to play for RR & run his spread offense. I agree that there's something else going on. ( & it couldn't have happened to a better program!!)

Cause he wants to win National Championships, son! Fo shizzle!

I know recruits change their mind etc. etc., but RROD, I am noticing a disturbing trend here, and it's not one I like...

Very true, the bigger problem is going to be convincing my wife she is having fun watching the UM/MSU game in the bitter cold and rain this weekend.

Even in the midst of one of the worst seasons in their long history (and the constant media bashing from people like Mark May and Michael Wilbon) Charlie Weis managed to hold on to 100% of his 2008 commitments. Michigan has a similar tradition as ND, what's going on...?

They are not Notre Dame...that is what's going on.

I've said it before...but Michigan will return to being a mainstay in the Big Ten in a year or two. They need smarter and faster QB's.

Yeah all the money the produce from winning bowl games and all the media deals go into the Notre Dame Bandwagon Fund. Currently, they are trying to start fanbases in Idaho and New Mexico.

#13 - Threet is pretty decent. I wouldn't be too disappointed with him.

RROD has yet to prove anything to me. I was excited when he came in, but he has yet to prove himself. He can't seem to hold on to recruits. He has alienated players. He has bucked tradition. And worst of all, he said he could adjust his system to the players he has, but clearly has not. And you can't play the no talent card. sure he doesn't have nearly the talent he had last year, but Michigan without a coach can out recruit schools like Northwestern and Minnesota, both of which are having great years.

Its way way too early to be saying RROD was a mistake, but these are all alarming signs. Sure, there will be adjustments. Maybe the players that left are soft. Maybe the talent level was depleted to nothing. I just have a hard time believing that all of Carrs old recruits were too soft and too inept to win some of the games UM has been losing. When a school looks this bad, this out of whack, it comes down to one thing: coaching. RROD, please prove me wrong.

Not an apples-to-apples comparison, because Weis actually recruited his '08 class, whereas CoachRod is trying to simultaneously hold together and rebuild Carr's pipeline.

Michigan's track record is spotty with kickers, but better recently. I recall when they generally took a walk-on from the soccer team (and they don't have such a great soccer team!).
