Penn State's next coach...

Although Joe Paterno might like to, he can't coach forever. And after 30 years of loyal service, Tom Bradley would seem to make an obvious heir apparent to the Penn State head coach. "I don't worry about that," Bradley, the Penn State defensive coordinator said recently. "I like what I do. Everybody says, 'You have to be a head coach.' I've had such a great experience, great things have happened. The people that I've met, I wouldn't trade for the world." Bradley's Penn State roots go back more than three decades. He went from special teams captain to graduate assistant in 1979 and has been in Happy Valley ever since.

But everyone says it's Schiano who will be the next coach! God knows he probably wants to get the hell out of New Brunswick

It must be Galen Hall...it must be

Bradley has been running the "D" at Linebacker U for a long time and lately, has been the head coach (since Joe is in the press box). Bradley is the only reason PSU won a few early on this decade because the offense was horrendous, save 2005.

Galen is getting up there in age too. I don't think the folks in Happy Valley want Schiano. I think Joe would want to make sure Jay Paterno's future is taken care of which would indicate Bradley is the right choice. He's more loyal than a hunting dog.

Also, Terrelle Pryor said PSU would have been given a lot more consideration if he knew Bradley would be Joe's successor. That statement carries a lot of weight when thinking of the future of the program.

He's accumulated this much tenure at the University, he should at least be considered. I have nothing but respect for those like Bradley who remain viciously loyal to their respective programs.

October 23, 2008  04:40 PM ET

I agree. One of the things I admire most about PSU is the loyalty to each other and the whole staff doing for the love of the game. Everyone wanted Joe's salary disclosed and when it was, people were shocked to hear it was only $500,000.

Why does anyone think that Penn State would want Greg Schiano? Is it because he was once an assistant? Schiano did take a perennial doormat and turn them into a one-year wonder, but is that difficult in the Big Least? Michigan knows the problems associated with hiring a coach from the Big Least. Playing in the Big Ten is in a different universe (or a least galaxy) than playing in the Big Least. Tom Bradley needs to be the next head coach. The only problem is that he would no longer be defensive coordinator.

God I love Penn State.

You mean, Ohio State, right? That's okay, we all make mistakes.

Just pick any one of Ohio State's assistants, or anyone from Ohio for that matter. I am sure they will do a good job.

Does anyone know how many more days before the beat down?

October 23, 2008  10:05 PM ET

We beat your **** last year and OSU will do it again.

October 23, 2008  10:47 PM ET

Let's see now, it took a last ditch effort to beat comatose Bucky Badger. The following week, on the same field, the Lions torched Bucky for 48 points. The Buckeyes could not manange an offensive touchdown versus Purdue at home. Purdue's defense must be really good - NOT!
Yeah, it really matters what these yahoos from Ohio have to say.

October 23, 2008  10:52 PM ET

You got play the games. PSU win fine, OSU wins fine. No excuses after the games. That they did not have this guy or that guy.

OSU sucked at USC. Had their best game last week. Going to be a great game Saturday. It's about time PSU has a good team. Got tired of kicking you guys around the last five years.

October 23, 2008  11:10 PM ET

I suppose that five years incudes the 2005 game in Beaver Stadium (PSU 17 - OSU 10). Troy Smith laying flat on his back after coughing up the ball. Don't you even try to count 2005 as a conference championship. The whole sporting world knows better. So is this five years in your dreams?

October 24, 2008  12:32 AM ET

Bradley SHOULD be the next coach if he wants it. He represents Penn State and the proud tradition.

For those Ohio State fans bashing us Penn State fans here. Did you know that in the last 25-years that Penn State has won more National Championships (2) than your precious Buckeyes(1)? Playing for the National Championship means nothing if you don't win it.

ANGRY BUCKEYE INDEED

I would also be angry if I had to watch the sloppy offense exhibited in the OSU-Wisconsin game. Bucky Badger's defense is what you might call ---- UHHH ---- porous. Let's see how the freshman QB looks against a real defense. The OSU offense hasn't faced a real defense since ---- UHHH ---- Southern Cal. How did that work out for you?

USC 35 - OSU 3

Wells stubbed his toe and our QB is a loser (the guy that got us to the BCS title game nine months ago).

Whine! Whine! Whine! Whine! Whine!

CAMP RANDALL STADIUM - WISCONSIN BADGERS
10/4 - OSU pulls ahead by 3 with !:08 remaining
---- OSU 20 - Badgers 17
10/11 - ONE WEEK LATER ---- PSU 48 - Badgers 7

Hey! That's not a fair comparison.
The Buckeyes were not any good yet.

Whine! Whine! Whine! Whine! Whine!

When will the Buckeyes be good? February?
