Isles hiding DiPietro injury?

Rick DiPietro missed another game last night after being examined by a doctor during the day. He was listed as being "day-to-day" with "a lower body injury" that he suffered on Saturday night. The injury, whatever it was, is "unrelated to his previous injuries." That's all the news the Islanders saw fit to give out last night regarding their franchise goaltender, who has had two hip surgeries, missed the first four games of the season because he had not fully recovered from offseason knee surgery, but was apparently healthy enough to serve as backup. It's been a strange beginning to the season, as the team has used the NHL's new injury policy to keep injury situations murky. More worrying is that the brittle DiPietro - who didn't dress for last night's 4-2 loss to the Rangers, the team's fourth straight defeat - is showing no signs of becoming more durable.

Well there's a shocker! A hockey team keeping an injury situation "murky." Furthermore, the Isles are really looking good for signing this guy for the rest of his life.

It looks like another Wang Chung signing is going to bite him on the ****.

Check under "Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots......" and the like. It's becoming the norm.

If DiPietro wasn't such a nice kid, this would be laughable.

Ah, what the hell......HAHAHAHAHA.

At least the fishing is good on the island.

And .... how does hiding DiPietro's injury help the Isles? Dumb!

Coney Island Whitefish?????

October 28, 2008  01:01 PM ET

well at least they've got him for 13 more years. ha

I don't think it is fair for the club to use an injured player. Desperation does not justify that.
It's not like if playing DiPietro for 82 games, they can make the playoffs. They might finish 29th instead of 30th. Is that worth gambling away your only franchise player? No!
Even you, Mr. Wang, should understand that!

Got bitten by a hamster eh?

October 28, 2008  09:06 PM ET

It's not his hip, knee or anything that he had injured previously, its his groin. He injured it on Saturday night, during warm-ups. I saw him get hit in a not so great place.
