49ers dismiss Condoleezza rumor

A report by Adam Schefter on the NFL Network said that Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice had expressed interest in an executive job with the 49ers, possibly as president of the team. Before Sunday's game, a highly placed team source dismissed the idea that she would be coming on board. The source said it was possible Rice made an overture and that vice president Jed York, mostly as a matter of courtesy, would be willing to listen. Team spokesman Aaron Salkin called the report an unsubstantiated rumor.

It makes sense to me. A perfect fit. They both have the same approval rating.

silly rumor. why would she take a position like this. its beneath her.

Schefter's usually on the money, and I wouldn't doubt this at all. But I thought Condi Rice was a Redskins fan these days.

And I suppose Kissinger wants to take over the Yankees. Does she even know football?

October 28, 2008  01:23 PM ET

She could certainly help them continue their recent history of incompetence.

October 28, 2008  02:16 PM ET

she has no football knowledge, why would they hire her? they should bring back montana or young to run the place and get it working...

October 28, 2008  03:59 PM ET

Are you kiddin?

She'd make a GREAT president of an NFL team! It's not like she'd be getting the job based solely on her being a Sec of State/lap dog for a horrid administration or anything!

We all know Contradicta Rice is as experienced in football as she is at lying and spinning, and damn near crying at hearings over the "impugning of her integrity" after getting beat down with her very own lies and spin.

Right?

Please shoot me now!! She already helped screw up the country for the last eight years. Can she screw up the 49ers anymore? I would be a happy man if I never had to hear George Bush, Dick Chenney, Donald Rumsfield or Rice's names ever again!!!!
