So much for that theory about the Cavaliers getting motivated by watching the Boston Celtics receive their championship rings and hoist another championship banner Tuesday night in T.D. Banknorth Garden. LeBron James revealed on Monday that the Cavs will sit this one out. They'll wait in the locker room until the hoopla is over. "We don't need to be out there watching that, we need to get ready for the game," James said before the team left for Boston. Congratulations to them. But we're not [like] the fans of Boston. We don't need to be out there clapping for them getting rings." James brushed off the notion of using the ceremony for motivation. "It's stupid," he said of that idea.

Can't wait to see the match-up between Mo Williams and Rondo. In my opinion, the Cavs are still not strong enough to beat the Celtics in the playoff. Even though Posey is gone now, Tony Allen will step up and take over Posay's role, and he has shown that in the preseason. On the other side, the Cavs need to upgrade their SG, they need a defensive stopper to guard guys like Ray Allen and Rip Hamilton. The Celtics have Tony Allen, Lakers have Ariza, and who does the Cavs have?

October 28, 2008  06:44 AM ET

you dont have to be out there but at least show a little bit of sportsmanship. he sound so bitter.

October 28, 2008  08:18 AM ET

If they were going to wait in the Locker Room thats fine. But why announce it to the world? Its kind of like *We aint comin to your party cause we dont like that your getting presents!!* Just shut up and stay in the locker room.

October 28, 2008  08:31 AM ET

Wow, you are the one calling your own idea stupid; but you're the one who said you were going to watch the ceremony for motivation. So really you're just calling your self stupid, way to go. To me it dose not matter to me if their out there or not, it means a lot more to us Celtics fans. I can't wait in till tonight when they raise banner 17 and get their rings. And one thing the hoopla happens every year when a NBA team wins a championship you just have to deal with it if your the first team to play the champs in the first game of the season.

October 28, 2008  08:36 AM ET

Actually they DON'T have to deal with it.. they can do exactly what they're going to do, wait in the lockerroom until it's over. Of course it doesn't matter if they're out there or not because it's for the players and the fans. That's pretty much what Lebron said.

October 28, 2008  08:44 AM ET

Celtics don't deserve it. The NBA is rigged.

October 28, 2008  08:46 AM ET

Lebron has the right to stay out but he has to show some sign of respect. The Celtics earned it and like other champions the other teams still has to watch. The Celtics are not trying to put this on his face. It's just a tradition for any Championship team. It hurts but if you won a championship then you would want some respect back.

October 28, 2008  08:47 AM ET

For a big guy he's acting like a petulant child... It's not his party so he'll cry if he wants to.

Lebron is showing that part of him that will turn him into the next Dominique Williams. It's all about him... the hell with sportsmanship and team spirit. watching him fail over the length of his career to ever get a championship will be nice.

No class

October 28, 2008  08:48 AM ET

It's a shame that Lebron won't ever have the chance to see a team do that once he wins a championship.

A sore loser is still a loser.

October 28, 2008  09:04 AM ET

The Cavs should be out there as a matter of respect. They do not have to like being out there but they should be out there.

October 28, 2008  09:05 AM ET

He does sound bitter.

October 28, 2008  09:36 AM ET

ahhhhhhhhh........Poor LeBronnie is jealous

Well they do have to deal with it, it dose not matter were there are, when ceremony happens. He could have said we will sit in the looker room and wait till the game start, in stead of saying the other little stuff make you sound bitter. Like "We don't need to be out there clapping for them getting rings", nobody say he did have to be out there, that's what I was talking about just deal with it and don't say nothing at all.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Man, a good laugh on a Tuesday morning.

October 28, 2008  09:52 AM ET

I'm saying he doesn't have to be out their when the ceremony are going on, but don't sound like a sore loser when try to explain your reason why you're not going to be there.

October 28, 2008  10:09 AM ET

why is this a story?
why should the cavs sit & get cold while the festivities
are going on.....
It's also not HIS decision- it is the COACHES-

October 28, 2008  11:08 AM ET

Who the heck cares about the new banner at the gahhhden?? I'm from Boston and I definitely didn't jump on that bandwagon. You know, Bostonians have this ridiculous sense of entitlement. Who cares that you have 17 chamionships when you had a 20 year period where you were the bottom of the barrell and you won 9 when coaches where putting teams together without rules on contract restrictions? It took 86 years to win the World Series but Bostonians think the Sox are MLB rulers.

I definitely won't be watching that crap. I may tune in to check the score...just want to see when the Cavs start blowing them out.

October 28, 2008  11:10 AM ET

LeBron wants a ring of his own. I can understand him not being too excited about seeing someone else get one. No disrespect--shake their hands and congratulate the Celtics, but why should the Cavs be a part of the celebration?

October 28, 2008  11:47 AM ET

I don't think they should be out there because it's the Celtics day. They should be able to celebrate with their fans. if the Cavs have to watch that isn't "motivation", it's "punishment".

Well watching the Red Wings raise their Stanley Cup banner a couple weeks ago from the bench and not the change room certainly didn't hurt the Leafs!
