Fukudome in Peavy deal?

The Cubs are among the teams Jake Peavy would agree to waive his no-trade clause for, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune, and if they don't re-sign Ryan Dempster, they might be able to pry Peavy loose from the Padres. In a perfect world, they could acquire Peavy with a package that included not only two or three prospects, but also Kosuke Fukudome, whom San Diego tried to sign last off-season. Of course, with $42 million remaining on Fukudome's contract, he's now a much tougher sell. Peavy missed a month this season with an elbow strain, so it's a bigger risk than picking up Rich Harden's option was.

Fukudome is SOOOO over rated!!Cubs may have to eat most of that contract to get Peavy....

Talk about a "price fixing" scandal. When haven't we seen this before.

WELCOME TO THE FUKUDOME, NO ONE GETS OUT ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do the trade. I was dissappointed in Kosuke. Peavy is a great pitcher. I say resign Dempster as well, and get rid of Marquis and have Peavy take his spot in starting rotation. Big Z, Harden, Peavy, Dempster and Lilly....that rotation would kick ****!

If the Cubs are able to add Peavy and get rid of Fukudome at the same time.....it would be one of the biggest GM coups in the history of baseball. No way the Padres could be that stupid.

I'd take Peavy over Dempster, but I was a big fan of Demps, so hopefully he will resign for a decent amount and we can end up with both... As long as Kosuke is gone, I could care less if he shows up, get him out!

As long as we're making **** up: In a perfect world the Cubs would be up 3-1 over the Rays in the World Series right now. What a dumb article.

You have to consider the source of this story. It's written by Phil Rogers, the biggest Cubbie Kool-Aid drinker (and fiction writer) employed at the Chicago Cubune, I mean Tribune. Just wishful thinking on Flip Flop's part.

Who frip frop?

If the Padres agree to trade Peavy for Fukadome (and prospects), they would be dumber than the Cubs.

If the Cubs can somehow make this happen, they will no longer be considered the stupidest organization in baseball. That honor would then go to the Padres.

I agree with you wholeheartedly, Kosuke is a bust! San Diego won't go for this after seeing how ineptly he played this year. BTW nice to see your old avatar back!

The world IS perfect the best NL team, the Phillies, are doing to the Rays exactly the same thing they did to the toothless NL Central Brewers and the same thing they did to the LA (prima)Dodgers. Don't worry Cubs fans, as you get older the centuries go by like that!

I'm sorry, but everytime I read the name "Fukudome", I always think that would be a good name for the new Yankees Stadium - if it was going to be a dome, that is...

Good Trade
