Too many goalies in Chicago

Sooner or later, something has to give. The Blackhawks have a glut of good goaltenders in their organization and only so many games for them to play in. The Hawks are going with the highest-priced tandem in the NHL, but Nikolai Khabibulin and Cristobal Huet are both part-time players. Hawks coach Joel Quenneville thinks that the Khabibulin-Huet situation eventually will work itself out and that the competition between the two is a healthy thing. Khabibulin, Huet, Niemi and Crawford haven't complained, but none can be happy with his limited playing time. The logical answer would be for Hawks general manager Dale Tallon to find a new home for Khabibulin, who is in the last year of a four-year contract that will pay him $6.7 million this season. Huet is beginning a four-year, $22.5 million contract.

Wow...what a story....i had no idea!!!!

Not much of a story overall as it clearly falls into the No $h*t department. However if Habby continues to play well (.919 sv% and 2.53 GAA with 1 SO) AND can stay healthy, Tallon will be able to find plenty of takers, something that seemed nearly impossible at the beginning of the season.

I think he raises his game when he feels his team has a shot. My opinion I realize.

I think Chicago is going to have to eat $2.7 million to get somebody to take him.

And I'm hoping it's Deadmonton.

The Broken Wall to LA.

I watched your boys shutout Hongcouver last night. Thomas is a pretty decent goalie. I like him. And he now has two 1-0 shutouts on consecutive nights.

What did the announcers say?, "He's either the best of the bad goalies, or the worst of the good goalies"??

Something along those lines, but I know he probably made a save with every body part he has including his noggin' last night.

If you don't want him I'd take him in Deadmonton too.

Nikolai will end up somewhere else and be just fine.

The Hawks should put St. Nick on waivers again. Maybe the Oil will show some interest this time.

Watch The Flyers pick him up. According to the crack staff at T&R, they have goaltending issues!

Do the Cryers have the cap space for him?

October 29, 2008  11:19 AM ET

i really dont see why this has to be settled right here right now, theres PLENTY of time for trades and as far as im concerned..if anybody is watching the games...Khabi is the only one actually PLAYING right now....he's the only one we've won under...every game Huet has started (2-3) we've either lost or gone to a shootout and lost...

so idk why Huet isnt being brought up as maybe trade bait?

and i wonder where Niemi came in? why do you sign one if you have TWO behind the TWO you already have...why would you even do that?

because heut, for some unknown reason, was a big free agent signing. To trade him now would be to admit a mistake, a huge no-no in Gary Bettman's NHL

Is that two babes in your photo LetsGo ? hard to tell.

October 29, 2008  11:37 AM ET

If the Hawks do indeed trade a goalie, they better get an enforcer included in the deal. Kane needs some protection.

The Hawks got plenty of muscle ( Burish, Eager, Fraser) they need a 2nd line lft wing. Shanahan or Nash would be a nice fit, not gonna happen but it would be sweet! I will really stretch and pray for Jagr (rw), but either he and Havlat could play the left side.

Koci is a punching bag, he played there already. Don't need a heavyweight. Those guys I mentioned think they're heavyweights and that is enough for me. Check out my Behn Wilson Blog. You love heavyweights, you'll love this blog.

Those three don't intimidate anybody. I watch all the Hawk games and Kane is getting hit alot.
Behn Wilson vs Scott Stevens was a good fight at the old Chicago Stadium.
