Royals-Marlins deal in works?

The World Series is on hold, but the Hot Stove keeps simmering with trade rumors involving the Royals. The latest: Florida first baseman Mike Jacobs remains a possible trade acquisition even as general manager Dayton Moore dismisses numerous sources touting a deal to send outfielder Mark Teahen to Cleveland. "It's unbelievable," Moore said. "I don't doubt that somebody said that, but that somebody lied. (Cleveland general manager) Mark Shapiro will tell you the same thing." Sources from both clubs said Teahen could be dealt for one of three outfielders: Franklin Gutierrez, Ben Francisco or Trevor Crowe.

I doubt that anyone is interested in this story, so I'm writing something so there will be at least one post in case a Royal or Marlin logs on.

How could someone not be excited about a Mike Jacobs, Mark Teahen thread.

I am a Marlins season ticket holder and am very interested in this story. I think trading Jacobs and moving Cantu over to 1st base is the best move for the team. It's cool for others to rail on the Marlins, but let's not forget this is a team that was very close to making the playoffs this year after low expectations entering the season and returns a very talented and young starting rotation next year. Make fun of them all you want, but they do have many supporters in South Florida (whether they actually go to the games or not is a whole different story) and two World Championships in the past 11 years is nothing to sneeze at. What do you want, another Yankees, Red Sox, Mets story? And, let's not forget, the next best thing to winning the World Series, is taking away the Mets' chance to win the World Series!! That alone has made the last two years sweet.....

Im a huge Royals fan (yes, we still exist) and I'm pretty encouraged to see that the Royals could be making a move for a young player with potential in a position of need. Just curious Aaron, have you heard what the Marlins might be asking in return for Jacobs. What's your thoughts on Jacobs? Thanks.

No comment on the trade talks but I wanted to voice my opinion about how the baseball season continues to get later and later. I remember when it use to be called the fall classic and it ended in early October. Is it so hard to play a few more double headers? Maybe play 4 game series instead of 3 game series? You would think with airline travel we could speed up the season. I just don't see the point of playing games close to november when its raining, snowing and we have almost freezing weather. Your dropping the ball Bud Selig. Sorry about this but I don't see anywhere else I could post it.

If a tree falls at a ballpark in Kansas City or Florida, does anyone hear it?

As a Marlins fan I too am very interested in this story. I hate to see Jacobs go but I completely understand the Marlins' need for better defense at first base. Jacobs can hit, but his fielding leaves a lot to be desired.

All the haters are just **** who live in their parents basement and have never felt the warmth of a woman. Go Marlins!!!!

Nunez is a great pitcher to pick up for Jacobs. He throws very hard and has good control. I would have rather seen the Royals pick up an outfielder out of this. Now the Royals have 4 guys fighting over first base, and still none of them are better than average.

I think starting one of the young guys like Gaby or putting Mcpherson at 3 and Cantu at First would be Great. Jacobs was not good defensively and thats what really hurt us. Jacobs was swinging for the fences almost all the time.
