Johnson still fears these drivers

With three races remaining, Jimmie Johnson appears to be headed for that third championship becoming the first driver to achieve the feat in 30 years. Only three other drivers are within 300 points of him and none are within 180. On top of that, Johnson and his team are leading the charmed existence of, say, Paris Hilton. But this is racing -- a sport where success is influenced as much by the unkindness of strangers as one's own personal talent. That is, there will be some scary drivers lurking around out there on the track this weekend in Fort Worth. There'll be scary figures who could haunt the championship quest of Johnson and his team. According to Johnson, you can break the scary guys into two categories. The first group contains those who scare Johnson because they are good enough to pounce upon him if he gives them the slightest of openings. Johnson said if he is leading Texas with laps winding down, he would get scared by the sight of "the first three guys in the points (Carl Edwards, Greg Biffle and Jeff Burton). And then I'd have to put (Tony) Stewart in there and (Jeff) Gordon, because those guys want to win a race pretty bad." Then there is the second group of scary guys. It's a group that does not frighten Johnson with its abilities to beat him to the finish line. Instead, it's a group that could punt him into a championship-threatening DNF (did not finish). For that category, Johnson named numbers. "There are a bunch of them," Johnson said. 'Typically, wrecked cars to start with, and then I think if you get around the No. 77 (Sam Hornish Jr.) or the No. 42 (Juan Pablo Montoya) or the No. 7 (Robby Gordon) at times can be a handful. Gosh, you go through the list, let's see. I seem to be struggling with those guys from time to time." Johnson put some more thought to it. And then he repeated the Hornish number.

Fear no one JJ -- foot in the carb ... turn left!

Sam does seem to wreck about every race doesn't he...Well, at least Jimmie doesn't think he has it all wrapped up yet!!!

I think Ambrose and Menard might make that list also.

I'm sure Jimmie's still kissing Hamlin's backside for not wrecking him for racing that hard (greedy SOB was probably still PO'd about losing positions late in the race at Charlotte).

Edwards, on the other hand, probably want's to b-slap Hamlin. Of course, if Carl didn't try to do his own Sam Hornish impersonation at Talladega he and his teammate would both be a lot closer in the points.

To JJ's point, the 77 just seems to be an accident waiting to happen, period...whereas with the 7 and 42 and some other people, I think they are just going to race him hard and hold him up as long as possible if he's the leader, because they are trying not to get lapped.

Sam's home town is a half hour from where I live. And when he is home he comes into the little bar I manage. He seems like a nice guy (for someone with his money) he has had a lot of bad luck with his NASCAR career.. I really thought he would be better at it then he ha shown!!

yeah right JJ, do you expect us to believe you

Well you cant leave the 18 off this list. Menard though is worse than the 77 or 45, now I would say leave Marcus alone I think we will adjust and be one of the better non-americans in the sport.

Who was it that said that 'when Montoya is running 42nd he's the best 42nd on the track'? I laughed my arse off on that one.

I am really suprised JJ didn't keep those comments, thoughts to himself. I can see it now, Robby Gordon has a problem and goes 3 laps down. He wouldn't think twice about making JJ look like a fotune teller

It hasn't been a very excitable day here on T & R so i guess I didn't miss much of the game, Good Weekend!!!!!!
