Are Rams phasing out Holt?
In 10 highly productive seasons with the Rams, wide receiver Torry Holt never has complained publicly about not getting the football. But on Friday, he said he felt like he was getting phased out of the offense. "At times I do," Holt said. "At times, I feel like there's a situation where I'm being phased. Who knows? We've still got (nine) more games left, and we'll see how those (nine) games go. And then, once the season's over with, come back and ask me and see how I feel." When Jim Haslett took over for Scott Linehan as Rams coach on Sept. 29, he stressed that he wanted to get the ball in the hands of the team's top playmakers, mentioning running back Steven Jackson, rookie wide receiver Donnie Avery and Holt. But three games into Haslett's tenure, it doesn't look like things have changed. Over the past three games, Holt has caught 11 passes for 102 yards, with no touchdowns. In the first four games, under Linehan, Holt caught 15 passes for 187 yards and one touchdown.

Seems like much ado about nothing. Past three game stats are too close to first four game stats.

I was thinking that exact thing, the only real difference is a touchdown. This is just another wide reciever with his feeling hurt. Prob because of Avery i am sure

Maybe Torry Holt will sign with the Cowboys! And then Chad Johnson and then... <sarcasm included>
I'd like to know which teams would make a run for Torry Holt if he gets out of St. Louis.

I guess I am not sure why this would be the case. However, Troy has been a major part of offences that have lost many games. Perhaps if Troy had not said a word, I would not have associated him with losing teams, now I have. To bad.
Maybe he should try the pink dance skirt thing again. He may get some attention than he is now.

Holt must realize he is getting older and when a guy like Avery comes along its like a gift from the football Gods, when it happens and you see that he's a purebred wide-out, you ride him.. Avery should be getting more and more throws his way, so if Holt is complaining now its only going to get worse as Avery becomes the stud of that teams wide-outs. Nature of the game Torry, wasn't that long ago when you were squeezing someone out..Nature of the game !

he isnt being phased out he just isnt as good as he used to be which is why his stats are getting worse progressivly this year. he is still very good except in his prime he was the deep threat and bruce was the possession receiver. now its holt delegated to possession receiver and avery is the deep threat. deep threats normally post monster stat lines and more entertaining to watch. spend less time whining about wanting the ball and more time on the track. dont turn into a less talented t.o. we have enough princesses at wr. in the nfl

He's older. But he's handling this in a classy manner. It's a lot better than LJ in KC griping and moaning about being phased out. After 10 years production can decline. But it could also be that he's being covered more or just not getting separation from the defenders.

Holt phased out Bruce and now he is complaining that he is getting phased out. Bruce was explosive and great then he developed into a solid possession guy while Holt emerged. Now Avery is the explosion and Holt is the possession.

The Rams aren't phasing him out yet. When Bruce was around, he'd get double teamed and Holt would get the ball. Then Holt would get double teamed, and back to Bruce.
With Bruce gone, Holt has been getting covered like flies on ****. Avery has just gotten started, teams are going to start paying more attention to him and Holt will find himself with a little more room to get open.
Plus, Bulger and the O-line have been horrendous, so that really doesn't help his cause much

Honk if you are sick of the idea of McCain and Obama coming onto MNF and having Tony Corn-Holeeeio fawn over them both as they tell us how great the Redskins are (no offense to Skins fans as the Skins are playing well) while they should be rooting for the Cards or Bears respectively.......
Dollars to doughnuts these two pickle-schmoozlers totally flip to the DC team as if that were to gain them some votes. As usual waffling and no integrity from our "elected officials"
I will be muting the volume for sure!!!!!

they should play the best player. PERIOD
'phasing out' is not a relevant term in football
becaue there are no 'real' guaranteed contracts

I'm glad somebody stated the obvious. Holt's numbers are down because he constantly gets double teamed. Avery has in single coverage a lot this year.
It's exactly why Torry used to catch more balls than Bruce some years when Torry was first in the league. Isaac got all the attention, leaving Holt in single coverage.
