Two Rangers catchers on Red Sox' radar

The Rangers have catching depth but probably aren't parting with prospect Taylor Teagarden, and the Red Sox are pretty split organizationally on Gerald Laird, who has matured quite a bit from his younger days. But the best bet continues to be Jarrod Saltalamacchia, whom the Sox could groom while a veteran - Jason Varitek, Bengie Molina, Pudge Rodriguez - keeps the seat warm for a year or two.

Saltalamacchia would make the most sense, he could learn alot watching Varitek for a year or two.

Yeah the kid's got skills and a sweet upside if he were to be acquired -- I think he'd be a good study.

They should sign Henry Blanco. No prospects need be traded.

The sox should try a trade that would consist of Clay Buckles

Please tell me you're trying to be whimsical, 'cause I'm pretty sure you're thinking of CLAY BUCHHOLZ.............

Hated to see the Braves let Saltalamacchia go in the trade to get Tex. Thought it was a mistake. Boston will be doing themselves a favor if they can aquire him.

This is a good set-up for Tek, Salty and the Sox. Tek coaching Salty a year or two before retiring. Salty learning from the captain and the red sox having a good bat at that position.

Texas desperatley needs pitching help. The Sox could dangle Michael Bowden, Bucholz or Masterson as bait to reel him in.....that is if they want to

texas has 4 catchers that are all mlb-ready or close to mlb ready. taylor teagarden is probably our best catcher out of the bunch, so we're looking to trade the others for pitching depth. it's not that salty is a cancer, it's just that we have a surplus at C and need pitching.
