Dodgers, Braves, Phillies targeting Peavy

Don't rule out the Dodgers as a possibility for Jake Peavy. Apparently there are no qualms about trading within the division. The Dodgers certainly have the young players that San Diego would desire, including young pitching (Jonathan Broxton seems to be a target). The Braves are also still very much in the hunt, and don't be surprised if the Phillies get into it if Peavy waives his no-trade.

It's good to see the Phillies not sitting idle just because they won a WS. They need a second legit starter. They were lucky to get the performances they did out of what they have behind Hamels.

Phillies would be an interesting team, I dont know if they have the prospects for the deal though. I still see Peavy going to the Braves in the long run.

who isn't interested in Peavy?

What do the Phillies have to offer San Diego in return for Peavy? What too many people here do not understand is Padres GM Kevin Towers doesn't just give away in trades (as many teams including the Texas Rangers are painfully aware of). People, please do not take the word of writers and columnists from the Northeast who haven't a clue about the Padres' situation. Look at the North County Times or the San Diego Union Tribune or even the LA Times for credible info on the Padres' thought process about a possible (and becoming more unlikely) trade of Jake Peavy. (Yes, I'm a nervous Padres fan I admit)

The Phillies have stud catcher in-the-wings Lou Marson but he's obviously staying. Ditto for five-tooler Greg Golson and the pitcher Carrrasco. But if I'm not mistaken they have a dynamite shortshop they're trying to convert into a 3rd baseman. I believe the Pads are looking to deal Khalil Greene so maybe they could do this alleged ringer prospect a few other lesser guys, a pile of money and viola the Phillies have Peavy. Of course that's just a pipe dream, guys like Peavy don't just fall into your lap, do they?

Agreed

This trade will be too expensive for anyone. The Padres want a haul in talent and Peavy's agent wants a budget busting multi-year contract. All this for someone who may not be healthy?

he should put brewers and red sox on that list as well

Mr. Peavy,

Come here and win a World Series. We'd love to have you.

Signed,

i dont think any time has either the prospects or the willingness to give up prospects for peavy. im sure the pads want atleast 2 or 3 top level prospects for peavy but no one is willing to give that to the padres. the padres of course should not trade peavy for anything less than 2-3 top level prospects. peavy is a relatively bargain ace. he has a 13 millionish contract in a time and age where pitchers like barry zito is earning what? 17 millionish?

everybody is in the hunt for peavy..
