Shakeups at Notre Dame?

06:49 AM ET 11.03 | The Irish lineup for the Boston College game could be different than the one that took the field against Pittsburgh, and it will have nothing to do with injury. Certain starters may be on notice. "There will be some frontline players that will definitely be challenged this week," Charlie Weis said. "I'm not getting into particulars. If they don't know right now, which they should, they will certainly know (Monday)." One player possibly climbing the ladder? Freshman cornerback Robert Blanton. After the loss on Saturday, Golden Tate opined that the Irish got "too comfortable" and therefore couldn't finish off the Panthers despite a two-touchdown halftime lead. Weis did not appreciate Tate's candor, for one. In an unrelated discourse about second-half offensive issues, the Irish also specifically cited an obvious mental error by Tate -- without mentioning his name. Now, it's Enter: The Censor. "Let's just say I'll talk with Golden and he won't be saying that anymore," Weis said. "Just like Michael Floyd was lateraling the ball in the North Carolina game."

The only changes that need to be made is the head coach...Weis is a bum...nice of ND to give him a big extension after two average years he coached the previous coaches recruits

Way to go, Pitt Panthers!

Charlie Weis is a bad coach, and Notre Dame is a terrible school in a terrible location with a terrible sports program.

November 3, 2008  09:52 AM ET

Can't wait to hear the response to that one

November 3, 2008  09:59 AM ET

The look on Weis' face in that picture screams, "Did someone say shake? I hope it's chocolate!"

And John McCain will be our next president...

Clausen really does look good. I am starting to see what the fuss was about when he signed with ND. If they could just develop a running game, because Hughes and Allen are not the answer back there. They need a more explosive player at running back and that offensive line needs to run block better. If they get that...ND would be a much better team. They are good now, but they could really be something.

cierre wood might their guy

That's terrible.

If Clausen looks like a pro quarterback then you need to take off the beer goggles and watch the game. If Clausen doesn't overthrow the wide open reciever in the end zone the Irish win the game. What the hell were you watching??

I'll try to state something intelligent unlike most on this thread. This is a prime example of young kids not being able to handle the pressue yet. This team is still starting majority of sophomores and freshman and they don't know how to win. The three games ND lost this year were in the fourth so it shows you the lack of maturity. TheyDO have it going in the right direction or they wouldn't even be having leads in any of these games.

The only thing the needs to be shaken up is Charlie's freakin head!! There was nothing wrong with the line-up. It was the poor clock management in the final minutes of the game (using time-outs back to back) and the atricious play calling in overtime! That falls on the coaching staff. I watched all 4 overtimes...1st OT..Charlie has success running the ball with Allen..fine. Second OT & third OT's the Pitt D adjusts (like good coaches are supposed to do) and is waiting for the run on 1st down. So what does Weis do in the 4th OT after having no success running in the previous two OT's?? He runs the ball not just on 1st down again but on 2nd down also!! ****!! It's like the guy can put out a good initial game plan but then when his defensive counterpart on the other side of the ball counters Fat Charlie has no answer for it! Those players fought their guts out and deserved a much better fate than they got. The COACHING staff let them down plain and simple!

If Pitt had Stull starting and healthy, they would have won by 2-3 TDs...at ND. Pitt's better than people think, and should play better with Stull back, if the coaches let them.
