Tigers dangling Ordonez?

One of the most interesting teams to watch at the winter meetings will be the Tigers. If it's true they are looking to cut payroll, then someone like Magglio Ordonez could become available. Ordonez, a .312 career hitter with seven 100-RBI seasons, will be paid $18 million in 2009 and has options for 2010 ($18 million) and 2011 ($15 million). If the Tigers are looking to regain some of the younger talent they lost in the Miguel Cabrera and Edgar Renteria deals, this is the player who can fetch them. Another player the Tigers are dangling is setup man Fernando Rodney. They are desperately looking for someone to close.

If the Tigers do end up trading Ordonez, they should make it MANDATORY that the other team also take Rodney in the deal.

Let's just say this, the Tigers faithful will start getting restless if we dump Mags for prospects again, so a few of the guys better be on the fast track to be the next K-rod or something. Dombrowski already dumped Pudge for Fransworth, who 1) hates pitching in Detroit and 2) sucked in New York and Detroit.

We need an offseason like the white sox had last year, taking a scalpel to the team, removing key pieces and replacing them with pieces that make a better complete team.

Farnsworth and Pudge are both free agents....The Yanks and Tigers just traded malcontents to see if one played better in the other city. There was nothing to lose on both sides

You would be wise to brace that thing

Though he's starting to get up there in age -34-
for two years he's a great option for say...the Mets

Being a Tigers fan id hate to trade Maggs because he is a good guy and a good player. If he is traded and Boston is one of the rumors teams i would ask for Jed Lowry and a pitching prospect. The Sox have alot of depth and the Tigers can use some young blood. I wonder if asking for Masterson also in the deal would be asking too much?

As for the other team the Mets well their Gm wants his whole team to consist of Spanish players so im sure he will push hard for him. Maybe the young outfielder Martinez they have in their system would be a good fit for the Tigers. They need team speed. Leyland is National League manager and the NL is a speed league so why not give him some weapons.

Of course you don't, you're a marsupial you have a pouch. People wear pants because of their pockets: pouch trumps pockets like rock smashes scissors!

Then again what do I know? I'm a nocturnal prosimian, it's pitch black when I'm out so nobody minds if I go commando.............

HUH?

other than their ages, how exactly are they even REMOTELY
close to being the same type of player.....

Cameron is a dog.
Ordonez is a quality OF

Hey Jim Hendry! Ordonez for Fukudome and Cedeno and a prospect or two. Mags would be a nice fit in Cleveland, and they have some youngsters to work out a deal...but they are in the same division, so that'll never work. Maybe Mags in L.A. to replace Manny? L.A. has youngsters, too.

I could shoot that thing of from 50 paces.

Maggs is the only player Detroit has that could pull any clout. As a batting champ 2 years ago and a runner up recently it shows he is not a fluke. He is also relatively not that highly paid as a hitter like him is elsewhere in the league. He could command a decent package but we shouldn???t plan on a haul for him. But I am in full agreement that whom ever gets Maggs, if he is traded, the small print must read ???and in signing over Magglio Ordonez you inherit the contract in full for ???there goes the **** game??? Fernando Rodney??????

The good news is Detroit Sports is not completely screwed, we just landed AI... Dumars finally pulled the trigger...

Oh, I see, we pay too much for Inge, and got absolutely nothing for Willis other than a big contract, we dumped Jones the left fielders contract and now we have to trade mags for the price of all these wrong moves. Good One Tigers. Lets just get rid of 1/3 of our power. Oh sorry, I forgot about my other 229 hitter Sheffield. I know sports is a gamble and these things backfired, it happens. But lets not get rid of a proven player for the unknown. We need a shortstop, a catcher, and pitching. Lets focus on those goals without giving up the farm AGAIN.
Also I cant believe what we got for Pudge, a renta player for a renta player. Its no secret our season went in to the toilet after this trade. Pudge's handling of pitchers was unvaluable. I blame that on the season downfall more than anything.

This is one massive train-wreck of a post.
