MJ's son crosses Miami off list

Marcus Jordan's college recruitment is starting all over again. A month ago, Jordan was leaning heavily toward Miami. But when the Hurricanes took a commitment from another guard, Jordan crossed them off his list. "I'm basically back at ground zero," Jordan said. "It's all part of the game. When they got that commitment, I was like, 'I guess we just have to start over again.'" The list again is long. Most notably, Memphis has been in touch, and Jordan expects them to make a trip to Chicago to see him. Florida State also called the other day. His dad, Michael Jordan, has talked to Arizona State, California, Davidson and Michigan State. Contrary to rumors, Jordan does want a scholarship. Just because his family has money, it doesn't mean it changes his recruitment.

hi

Go to FSU, kid. Being from Chicago, and having graduated from FSU, the thought of seeing Michael Jordan in the stands wearing some Florida State gear would be sports heaven for me. I know it's unlikely , but I'm going to enjoy the thought for a while...

I have read that he's average at best. He's better then Jeffrey but not a star.

He should cross Memphis from his list. I would go to FSU just off of that list. Maybe Cal, but FSU might be a good spot for him.

Come on, MJ. Pay your son's way and let whatever team he goes to give that scholarship to someone else.

Oh, and since I am about to buy FSU season tickets you should come to Tallahassee.

I think he would look fantastic in some Cream and Crimson... I mean c'mon Michael Jordan is basketball... Indiana is basketball... he son should look at IU... they are in a rebuilding stage and it would be a huge pick up for IU and a great decision for Marcus!!!!!

Don't count on seeing him in the stands. Just look at his lack of commitment to the Charlotte Bobcats. He's been MIA ever since he took the position. Of course, Davidson would be about 15 miles away from Charlotte; however, I don't think he could stand Curry's hugh shadow.

No way does MJ let him go to FSU. Can you imagine MJ coming to the Dean Dome to see his soon playing wearing FSU colors. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!

A scholarship? give me a break. That is selfish. Let someone who does not have rich parents have the scholarship.

Wouldn't it make the team stronger if they paid the tuition and opened the scholarship open to another player?

A commitment to a business venture is not quite the same as a commitment to your child.

To Buff1198, I didn't see where North Carolina was interested. That's because they're not. Otherwise this whole discussion would be moot. So, it looks like there is a slight possibility that FSU is in the picture. And regardless of where he plays, I'm pretty sure MJ will be rooting for his son's team... even against UNC. You don't root against your own kid.

He hasn't been to too many of Jeff's games at Illinois.

Damn it! I realize the kid's a long shot for FSU, and that even if he comes, that doesn't mean we'll be seeing MJ in the stands... but can't I just enjoy the THOUGHT of it for a little while without all of you people chiming in with your facts, and your logic, and your rational thinking?

In MY mind MJ is in the stands enjoying watching Marcus play for the 'Noles... and he's wearing a Charlie Ward throwback jersey...

November 4, 2008  02:35 PM ET

From the list I've seen. He should head to FSU

November 4, 2008  02:37 PM ET

better yet, he can come to Kansas and be the 6th man off the bench....maybe!

With Michael Jordan I doubt money is the issue. The elder son Jeffrey got scholarship offers from mid majors and chose to walk on at Illinois. I think Marcus wants the prestige, and the acceptance of being talented enough to warrant a scholarship offer.

If he doesn't receive one then MJ pays his way to whatever school this kid can get himself in to.

Go to Davidson and get a great education.

I want to see MJ in the stands at Breslin wearing a magic johnson jersey
