Well I think it's a good move, his golden thong will go much better with the motif of the A's uni's than the Yankees.

'hiatus' for getting off the stuff /parasite issues......

take a look at his #'s over the length of the contract....
when he played - he was VERY good.
he gets on base and is fairly clutch.....
he will be a good asset to some team that needs a big bat

I gotta go with the toad, if for no other reason than having that steroid stigma standing out there at first base in the new stadium just rubs me the wrong way. We need to get Ransom or some other kid his swings in Giambi's slot, anyway.

I can not condone his actions. However...he has always been a hard worker and good teammate, he has a good eye and still hits. His D is subpar, but again he shows the effort. He will be a good addition somewhere, just not at $22 mil. per.

Giambi still has a good eye at the plate and can also pop the ball. Unfortunately, he sees himself as a first baseman when in fact he is nothing more than a DH. I will not miss the adventures that came as a result of him throwing the ball.

I can see Giambi coming back to the Yankees but no where near the $22M that he was supposed to get this year. Texceria (spelled wrong) would be a solid pick up but I personally dont think the Yankees need another bat and a fat contract on the payroll. What they should do is go with a defensive minded first baseman and let the rest of crew (A-Rod, Jeter, Cano, Nady, etc) score the runs.

i would really like to see jason come back to the yankee's he has already told them that he would come back for less, let him have a 2 or 3 year contract, he can play first base, he has been working hard on his D, trying to get better, he had made some great plays at first this year.. he still has a great eye, gets on base, started hitting the ball the other way, and he had a great year this year and i would like to see him come back.. bringing TEX into NY would be a mistake, we don't need him, don't want him, and don't need another Boras client.. tex wants way to much, and we need pitching first

The problem with Jason coming back is .........
what is the direction of the team?

- do we want to continue signing guys PAST their prime
that are one dimensional...or do we want to try and get
more younger guys that can steal a base, hit to Left field
(occasionally) play defense....etc.

We ALREADY have matsui, Posada who will need time a
DH- so we can't afford to have Giambi as a 'part-timer'
That being said- other than Arod- who else is going to hit
30 homers???? If he is willing to come back for MUCH LESS

Giambi coming back to Oakland--as the DH--makes a lot of sense for both parties. Giambi is a strong power hitter who is going to drive in runs and post a respectable .OBP for whichever team signs him. Giambi is going to cost less money in this off-season than several of the big name guys available (Teixeira, Dunn, Abreu, Manny, etc.), but he will put up the numbers Oakland has desperately needed to compete. Oakland can field only so many low-mid power low average/high .OBP players and expect to do anything but float near .500. Beane and Co. may want to seriously consider Giambi for a 1-2 year deal in order to fortify the middle of their batting order. The A's aren't as far away from contention as many would think. The Angels are vulnerable (likely losing Teixeira and K-Rod to FA, as well as saying adios to Anderson). A Giambi signing could be the difference for a rising A's team.

The answer is Mark Teixeira. He is the Yankees #1 offensive target for the offseason, and nobody will outbid them if Cashman has the Steinbrenners' full-on green light. Having Teixeira and A-Rod as the core of the middle of the line-up for the next 5-6 years is going to keep them in contention. It would take a miracle for the Angels to keep Teixeira... they just don't have the payroll flexibility (unless some fool GM is willing to take on the albatross named Matthews and his insane salary).
