Oregon losing recruits to OSU

It appears Oregon is back to square one, as far as the future of its interior defensive line. Myles Wade, the 315-pound, 5-star defensive tackle from Portland's Central Catholic High School, has decommitted from the Ducks. Wade cited "irreconcilable differences'' with the coaching staff and said he will opt for another Pac-10 school, possibly Oregon State. Justin Thompson, another 5-star defensive tackle recruit whom the Ducks were counting on, did not make it to Eugene and may also wind up in Corvallis.

This is important to those onthe East coast why?

November 5, 2008  01:15 PM ET

Your an idiot, no point in explaining it further.

Because if they go to USC, that would further the mentality of a "5-star bench". This leads to pollsters thinking USC has too much depth to lose any games. They then get rated even higher.

Given how much East Coasters whine about USC's ranking, it would seem you do care where these 5-star players land.

Are they getting divorced? That's the only time I ever hear that phrase used

November 5, 2008  02:08 PM ET

It wierd they don't state a reason, but 2, 5-star D-linemen decommiting is a big deal, espicially if they are going to your instate rival. OSU programs has been build off its upsets of USC. Now only if WSU coulda land a 3star recruit.

And I wonder why people bother talking about the SEC... People care about the Best coast and not just the Least coast. Last year the Pac-10 was the best conference and is very relevant despite a down year. Oregon and Oregon State are both likely bowl contenders for the foreseeable future - that means they might be playing one of your teams.

November 5, 2008  05:48 PM ET

Oregon State is already a "Bowl" contender and that bowl, given they win out, will be colored Rose. (Penn State fans should appreciate OSU wins as each one puts their team higher on the BCS poll.)

No. I'm won't even bother explaining it all to you, just...no.

November 5, 2008  06:01 PM ET

OK, it was supposed to be "I won't even..." I may be grammatically challenged this evening, but that was still a dumb statement. Pac-10 wasn't even the number two conference.

November 5, 2008  06:29 PM ET

If you're a Duck fan, any conference you play in has to be the best conference. Ever. And if they didn't get beat by themselves every year, they would win said conference.

November 5, 2008  07:19 PM ET

I'm tired of the endless debate of who's conference is best. This topic has been going on for so long, It's time Fannation started keeping track of conference vs conference records.

Uhhhh. Oregon State could BEAT most the teams on the East Coast.

Hmm, Riley already takes these supposed one and two star recruits according to Rivals.com and turns them into winners and superstars (See Yvenson Bernard, Steven Jackson, Derek Anderson). Imagine what he will do with some 5 Stars? Is he going to turn them into NFL caliber d-lineman by their junior years? One on either side of the line would be awesome.

Here is my vision 2010-11 season - 10-1 record starting with wins at the beginning of the season. Jacquizz Rodgers challenging for the Heisman, James Rodgers getting ready for the NFL. This story excites me!

First, to "eyes wide open" (more like CLOSED shut!), you're an ignorant idiot! You have NO business talking about a conference SUPERIOR to yours dude. ACC? Give me a frickin break! Umm, hey moron, maybe you really should try OPENING your eyes, and see just where the ACC is at... The equivalent of a second tier DII conference man - MAYBE...
So before you go running off your idiotic florida mouth, maybe that sorry **** conference - also known as the ACC - should go out there and play some football. Stick to that girls sport, known as basketball...Sorry **** pansies!

And "out on bail?" LOL, dude, you're an ABSOLUTE JOKE! East coast??? Dude, you're an even BIGGER moron if you think us west coasters give a RATS **** what a guy with a name like "out on BAIL" from the east thinks of our conference. Do you guys even KNOW what football is out there. Eastern football players aren't what one would call a star recruit (ONE star maybe?). Dude, when you guys learn how to play ball like we do out here in California, Oregon, Washington, Arizona and Texas, THEN your opinion matters.
Until then man, go back to your rat infested street corner (or apartment) in Jersey or New York or wherever **** infested eastern state you hail from, and kiss our west coast ****! LOL

Other recent Beavers playing nicely in the NFL include T J Husmenzada and Chad Johnson. Not to jinx them but Coach Riley hasn't done well against the UCLAN but this Saturday can prove different. If the "Quiz", a true freshman, maintains his average he'll set the Pac10 record for frosh yardage gained--w/3 more games to play. The O-line isn't bad but I'm sure they'll be glad to add some stars...

On the conference issue, they do ebb and flow...The Huskies and the Cougars are what--one win between them for the year? Didn't they use to be on top?

November 6, 2008  12:50 PM ET

Maybe the kid didn't want to wear those awful uniforms, LOL.

November 7, 2008  12:50 AM ET

Whoa! Califdude, relax and you will live longer. If you want to get in a **** match of insults the go to FOX Sports and blog there. I used to but left because most people were jerks. People seem much more calm and intelligent here. Warning ya though, most of the fans there are SEC fans.

As for Washington football, I love the Cougs and the Dogs, but the have 1 win between the 2 of them and that was over Portland State.

Hey zY, do you think anywhere else in the country has worse football this year than here on the Palouse? (WSU & Idaho)

November 11, 2008  06:38 PM ET

Awful Uniforms! Cut us we bleed Orange and Black, besides we're always ready for Halloween. We might be a small town but were full of fans and very proud so bring any of those east coast teams out here and we'll show you some football.. but bring your rain gear we don't want to send you home wet losers.

Important to the east coast why?

Well maybe because the pac10 has one team ranked in the top 5 and 2 teams ranked in the top 25, oh and also that the internet is used in more places than the east coast and that the article was not necessarily meant for you, hard to fathom that I know... We do have computers on the west coast moron.
