Sabathia not in Boston's plans

CC Sabathia's agent, Greg Genske, indicated earlier that he had not met with the Red Sox on Sabathia. While the Sox might explore some discussions on the big lefty, right now it doesn't seem to be in the plans. Sabathia, who is from the San Francisco area, would like to be on the West Coast. The Angels and Dodgers are interested. Sabathia was offered a 5-year, $100 million deal by the Brewers last weekend, but will seek other deals.

they can still go for A.J. but catching position is the priority.

Can anyone say Barry Zito? Don't overpay this guy....he won't pitch like he did for the Brewers on a regular basis

He's pitched like he did for the Brewers for the last 2-3 years.

Apples and oranges indeed. Zito was already a sub .500 pitcher when he signed that Giants deal.

CC had a rough start to the season, but has proven his worth over the last few seasons.

Franks and beans... Franks and beans!

On the contrary. Zito was already declining a little when he was signed. Sabathia, on the other hand, has only gotten better and better over the past 4 seasons. He's got some time on him still and is a proven workhorse. No team would be foolish to sign him long term for "Zito-like" money...

Er, rather no team would be foolish *for* signing him long term for "Zito-like" money. My bad...

Hey.... I already said that!

I don't see why CC WOULD be in Boston's plans. They've got a stable of starters that do great in the regular season; they just need to get over their fear of consistently winning in the playoffs.

why not...if nothing else bump up the cost to someone else...

Ouch, that hurts! Well, at least the Sox starters are good enough to get to the playoffs. I'm not a big fan of CC based on the way he caved in the the playoffs fo Cleveland.
I do hope Theo gets involved enough to drive his price way up for anyone else (hello NY)

Geez, your supposed to be the stat king. His ERA in 17 games with the Brewers was about 1/2 of what is was the last three years with Cleveland. I know that an ERA in the low 3's (Cleveland) is pretty darn good, but 1.65 (Milwaukee) is Gibsonesque. He will stay in the NL if he's a bright guy.

Lizard king. Slinky is the LIZARD KING. BC is the stat king.

By the way, your posts are, for the most part, lucid and intelligent this morning. Try and keep it that way.
