Cardinals willing to deal

The Cardinals could open next season with Ryan Ludwick and either Skip Schumaker or Chris Duncan flanking center fielder Rick Ankiel. All four have driven in 100 runs, hit at least 22 home runs or batted .300 in a full major league season. Another possibility, however, turns top prospect Colby Rasmus' path to St. Louis from a bumpy two-lane road into a freshly paved superhighway. That alternative would probably require the Cardinals putting Ludwick and Ankiel in play for a trade, a possibility that sources indicate is real. Five days at the don't-even-ask-how-much-it-is St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort haven't exactly brought the Cardinals to the brink of a trade. Still, a fourth-place team looking to reconstitute its middle infield and the left side of its bullpen and potentially fortify its starting rotation is not making Ankiel or Ludwick off limits to interested teams.

Outfielders are easy to replace, if you got trade bait and are serious, trade some of your OFs.

Ankiel I could see being moved. Ludwick I'm not so sure about. But if the Cards can get good infield help, which they desperately need, MOVE 'EM! Outfielders are a dime a dozen, well, relatively...

The Cardinals will be trading some outfielders this year. The article doesn't even mention Joe Mather who showed great power this year in part time duty. We have too many good young outfielders being blocked at the major league level. Five of them could be everyday outfielders on most teams. We need middle infield and pitching.

Everyone wants Rasmus. I'd trade him if it can get us a promising middle infielder. He might be the next Grady Sizemore. He might also be the next Lastings Milledge. I'd keep the proven MLB outfielders and trade the prospect everyone wants.

Trade Ankiel to the Cubs for their starting rotation.

As in trade to the Cubs for them to insert into their starting rotation.

The Cards must deal from their excess of OFs and improve the rotation and the middle infield. There should still be plenty of money to go after Fuentes, but they don't seem to be interested in that.

WE NEED A CLOSER AND BULLPEN HELP. We blew the most save opportunities in MLB last year. We lead the NL in batting average and runs - even though we don't steal many bases or provide Albert with enough RBI opportunities we're still in the mix. If we don't make a play for K-Rod/Sebathia/Peavy - we're idiots. We also need a true LEADOFF GUY to set the table and put pressure on the opposition.

RE: middile infielders. As a San Diego transplant, I have heard the rumors about our Redbirds being interested Khalil Green. I can only hope they don't make that mistake. When he has hit for average, it's rarely ever been in clutch situations. And his trends are down...bigtime.

trade ludwick to the braves for johnson...

Surely this trade talk is a really bad joke. IF A OUTFIELDER HAS TO BE TRADED, put Duncan on the block along with Glaus and Mathers. Where's the team's loyalty to the players who worked hard to produce a good season last year without many pitchers to keep us in the game. Better yet, see what we can get for Izzy. and put Perez in as closer and Mcclelllan could be moved in as a starter.

If we trade Ludwick we're stoopid.

Izzzy is a free agent dude. I don't understand what you mean when you say "see what we can get for Izzy." He is not even on our team.
