Buckeyes receiver wants transfer

Ohio State junior receiver Ray Small has been suspended from the team indefinitely and Small's father, Ken, believes the suspension is another instance of coach Jim Tressel unfairly holding his son back. Small, who moved to the Columbus suburbs from Cleveland to support his son this season, said Ray came home Wednesday night and said, "I'm through," after being told of his suspension for what an OSU spokesperson said is repeated violations of team rules. Ken Small said his son considered transferring during the off-season, and now he believes Ray will either turn pro after this season, even if he doesn't think he'll be drafted, or transfer to a FCS division school where he could play his final season next year.

One too many vest jokes...

November 6, 2008  07:43 AM ET

Ray it's time to grow up and cut the strings from Daddys coveralls. A little advice, you're not NFL material.

November 6, 2008  07:54 AM ET

RAY, you're too SMALL to play real football!

Isn't this the same guy who said something stupid before the USC game or was that someone else?

November 6, 2008  08:21 AM ET

How bout his Dad teach him not to break team rules repeatedly instead of coddling him?

Yeah it is the same guy.

November 6, 2008  09:37 AM ET

Don't call USC, OSU was going to make you a man........MAN-UP.

November 6, 2008  09:59 AM ET

Mess with OSU and you'll get the SWEATER VEST!

November 6, 2008  11:31 AM ET

Dude your not good enough to get on the field for a team that isn't that good this year. Think about it, get the free education and move on with your life

November 6, 2008  11:43 AM ET

Hey dad, OSU has bigger things to worry about than trashing your son's career. Besides, the two of you seem to have that under control. Sports parents are some of the most deluded on the planet, but fun to watch.

November 6, 2008  12:11 PM ET

Don't let the door hit you on the way out, Ray.

November 6, 2008  02:15 PM ET

I'm sure Tressell knows he could go undefeated for every year of Small's eligibility if he played him, but Tressel just wants to sabatoge this poor innocent kid's career.

lol

Yes he did. He commented that during a recruiting visit to USC, the locker room before the game was chaotic. While his visit to Columbus, prior to a game, it was quiet and serene. Then he said that USC was all about winning...while OSU was about making him into a man........

November 6, 2008  05:27 PM ET

Ray...why dont you just follow the rules? Wherever you go, there will be rules....and if you break em...you will be suspended too!! "Man up and dont break any rules!!!

mis-quote at its best....anyway ray small is not nfl material unless were talking about being a 7th rd punt returner..whatever happened to dante hall from the chiefs???this is just another prime example of why tressel needs to stop bringing in all these glenville players(most are over rated b/c the only time they face stiff competition is in the playoffs which they lose every year) and start recruiting the inner city kids from cincinnati and southwest ohio where we play lights out

November 6, 2008  08:45 PM ET

Ray seems soft, he is a grown man and has his DADDY arguing and fighting for him. Be a man and stand up for yourself, what a wimp!!! Is he gonna get his mommy to call my mommy for my remarks?

Have to agree... why can't you go to class? It probably wasn't a hard one. And it's free!!! Dumb ****

November 7, 2008  07:38 AM ET

Hey Hey Hey - Good Bye! Go ahead and try the NFL you will be in the CFL before ya know it.

November 7, 2008  01:15 PM ET

Small should head up to play for RichieRod. He's speedy and small and not a class act. he could follow in those footsteps of Chris Henry and Pacman Jones!
