He's Superman in Coors Field, but he's like Superman in close proximity to kryptonite away from home. How much are you willing to pay for a guy that's slightly above average away from Colorado? He's not gonna come cheap..........

I think I'd rather keep Ludwick instead of going after Holliday. Ludwick is just as skilled in the field, probably the same numbers as Holliday and you won't have to negotiate a big contract with him at the end of '09. Anyway, it hardly makes sense to trade an OF for an OF when your team is in need of middle infield help...

He is decent away from home... expect about 90 to 100 runs and ribbys and about 20 to 25 HRs, instead of 120 to 130 runs and ribbys and 35 to 40 HRs. And he is said to play the field very competently.

I agree with you...he's a great hitter, but his home/road splits are concerning. He'll be productive anywhere, but how much do you want to give up is the question.

The Cards would be much better off pursuing Peavy and Brian Fuentes to upgrade their pitching staff.

The Cards need middle infielders and more of a pitching staff! Not outfielders! This is such a stupid deal. Why would the Cards not spend this kind of money on Peavy or something? How many games did the Cards lose last year due to soft pitching?

Great first post, keep it up. I am not a Cards fan but you are right on in assessing your team's needs.

Cards need pitching. The only good thing about that starting lineup is Adam Wainwright.

Cardinals, cardinals, cardinals. How many bats in your lineup with 25+ home runs is it gonna take to convince you that it's not about power.... learn from the rays. I say trade for Peavy and sign Furcal and you're right back in the mix.

Why sign Holliday with a crowded outfield already? Ludwick played some great baseball this season and I really enjoyed watching him, so i'd keep him if I was the Card's. As others have said pitching and infield help are needed above outfield help.

good point, however, Cards not in the mix for Peavy and Furcal is probably going to resign with the Dodgers, being that he loves LA.

Dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb - we need pitching more than anything else. Don't spend all the money improving our strength. We need one rally good starter and several good BP pitchers. Our outfield is solid. Why trade Ludwick and more for Holliday just in time for the 20 million a year demands?

I agree with the fact that the Cardinals need bullpen pitching, but idk that it is as bad as everyone believes.

Chris Perez will be the closer this year, kinney will be healthy, and springer and franklin were still very good last year, as long as franklin wasnt closing.

Ludwick has a history of injuries, and last season he was unbelievably streaky.

Trade for Holliday, resign Looper, and pick up Demaso Marte (recently released by the Yankees).

The Cardinals dont need Peavy, especially if Carpenter comes back healthy and they resign Loop.

Also, Hollidays splits last year were pretty good considering he missed 20 games and played about 20 more while hurt:

lol, because then youve traded your only legit leadoff hitter, an MVP candidate bat, and a starter who led the team in K's and ERA last season (134 K's, 3.71 ERA) for a starter who pitches every 5th game.
