USC tailback Broderick Green, a redshirt freshman from Arkansas, will no longer practice with the team and will transfer at the end of the fall semester, Coach Pete Carroll confirmed Sunday. USCfootball.com, a website not affiliated with the university, reported late Saturday night that Green had told coaches he intended to transfer because of family reasons.

USC marches on. I wonder how many RBs are on their roster.

If he was good enough to be recruited at USC then some school will get a heck of a running back.

November 10, 2008  08:47 AM ET

Is that Beechnut or Redman that Pete's chewing?

November 10, 2008  08:49 AM ET

Family reasons=he's tired of his mom and dad asking, " how come you don't ever play?" and " how are you going to get to the NFL and buy us a mercedes if you never play?"

November 10, 2008  08:49 AM ET

USC now has 102 RB's..they are forming a practice squad at a high school field so they
can get some carries.....Raiders coaching staff was there to find 5 or 6 backs to run for them
LOL

Bound to happen. That team is too loaded at one position so you know that there will be a couple more announcements in the future of running back transfers.

November 10, 2008  09:44 AM ET

Should have known better than to go there anyway if you wanted playing time

November 10, 2008  10:17 AM ET

How much do you want to be that Carroll spins this to 09 recruits? Look, our cupbard is bare, we need you at tailback U.

If the kid seriously is leaving due to family reasons in his home state of Alabama than let it be, wish him the best of luck, and don't knock the decision. But as a USC fan - who misses him already - if I see this kid suddenly headed to somewhere not in the Southeast of this country, and far away from the family reasons, I'll be the first to call him an idiot.
Hey Moody, how's it working out in Gainesville? The USC RB situation may be more of a hindrance than a wealth of talent after all.

November 10, 2008  10:38 AM ET

He is from Little Rock. The Hogs had McFadden and Felix Jones at the time he committed to USC. I am interested in where he might go.

November 10, 2008  10:41 AM ET

What's the deal with Arkansas guys at USC?

November 10, 2008  10:42 AM ET

well if its family problems then thats what it is. Unlike Moody last year he just felt that when he got injured he fell behind the rest of the rb pack. Where ever greene goes probably Arkansas for his best interest hell be a good back. He was our biggest and baddest runner. But you got to do what you got to do. Good luck

November 10, 2008  10:44 AM ET

he should try nebraska, arkansas or even texas anm

November 10, 2008  11:23 AM ET

Is it possible.... that he's just upset he wasn't getting the same deal as Reggie Bush, so he wants to try another school and see what they'll offer. Oh Wait..... USC wouldn't ever break a NCAA rule.... and sure Honest, Cry Baby Pete would never allow such violations as PAYING FOR PLAYERS AND THEIR FAMILIES!

November 10, 2008  11:27 AM ET

Mitch Mustain is next. Tranfer to Tulsa maybe?

Good question. Mustain and D. Williams were upset about the Hogs not throwing more even though McFadden and Felix were in the backfield. It's also been noted countless times they have parents who are more than involved which is a little unfortunate.

Green probably is transferring because of lack of playing time.

Who knows with Mustain. He would only have 1 year of eligibility left if he transfers again and would have zero credibility if he does it again.

Would you want to stay and play there???

King-
True about his credibility. Sometimes grass isn't always greener...........
