Burrell hasn't heard from Phillies

The Phillies have exclusive negotiating rights with Pat Burrell through Friday, but at the moment his return seems less likely unless the length of the contract or amount of money is attractive to the Phillies. First, the Phillies have money they probably want to allocate elsewhere. Second, they also might want to get younger and more athletic in left field. Burrell said his having not heard from the Phillies doesn't concern him.

Well they did win the title, so they can now treat some of the players as the meat they are...basically cattle. They can get someone better for the team.

They really are testing the Manny market. They won't do anything with Burrell until that is settled.

For all the Philly fans' sake, let's hope they're not really serious about going after Manny. That would go completely against the argument for getting "younger and more athletic".

If your team's philosophy is dumber and moribound....Manny's your guy!!!

So replace Burrell with Manny? At some point, someone's got to catch the ball dont they?

November 10, 2008  09:00 AM ET

At least these savages booed Biden last night.

Victorino covers most of left field anyway. Manny + CBP = 60 HRs. I'd take that and another parade.

I dont think that taking manny for burrell is getting younger but i know that if manny goes to philly it is an upgrade. Balls will e flying out the park more then they did this year if manny was a philly. However, phillies do want holliday but in exchange for victorino.

Nah victoriono is the phillies spark plug. Dont get rid of him at all.

Ahhhh I see....Biden wasn't booed. I bet most of the people there didn't even know who he was. Lurie was booed. He's always booed.
