Will Jordan buy or sell Bobcats?

Michael Jordan wants to own majority interest in the Bobcats, and it will be interesting to see how long he's willing to wait. Jordan, a minority owner with control of basketball decisions, said in Scott Fowler's interview that he's ready to buy whenever majority owner Bob Johnson is willing to sell control. Certainly he has the resources, either on his own or through people who'd love to back Jordan. Here's where it gets more interesting: I hear, from people connected to Jordan's inner circle, that he can extract himself from the ownership group, for whatever he paid, at certain junctures in the agreement he signed with Johnson. I'm also told one of those junctures is the end of this year. And I wonder if that makes way for Jordan to either seize some sort of succession plan, or move out. The real question might be what the team is fairly worth right now. I doubt anyone would make Johnson whole, which would mean paying him more than $330 million. Jordan is used to buying things at a discount and having his way. But he's more engaged in the Bobcats' success than ever before, so let's see what transpires.

I hope he does, because he is basketball. No other player - other than Tiger Woods - has had such a impact as this boy has on his sport.

I thought short selling had been banned?

as long as it is not evaluating talent and let's NBA guy run the show it's a non issue. now if he decides he is a great basketball mind, he will make isiah Thomas look like the savior of the Knicks.

If he can't buy the Bobcats then maybe he should make a new team in Seattle and make it his own. Maybe the city will give in to Jordan and give him the new stadium.

Other than obviously being the greatest endorser ever......
business-wise- he is just a notch better than ISIAH

Is this Around The Horn?

Sell.

What ever it takes to get him out of the operations aspect of an organization. I feel bad for any team that has Jordan running it. He may be basketball in human form but he blows as an executive.

I'm sorry, Mike. But that earring HAS GOT TO GO!

Jordan will go down as one of the greatest players ever.AND, he should just own the team and let the professionals handle player evaluations. Two words, Kwame Brown

plus he wanted to get rid of Richard Hamilton and sent him to Detroit where he won a championship.

Jordan also chose Adam Morrison.

Bond 007 you really do have a hard time not showing don't you? How do you call a grown man that has accomplished all that MJ has boy?

Yeah, Jordan has made some questionable moves, but what team hasn't drafted a Kwame Brown bust. It happens to the best of them!!! And trading Rip for Stackhouse- that didn't work out not because of Jordan, but because Stackhouse didn't live up to his potential.

November 10, 2008  01:43 PM ET

come back out of retirement.. AGAIN!

November 10, 2008  02:04 PM ET

EVERY gm picks a bust eventually. Joe Dumars one of the best gms in the nba picked a bust # 2 when he could of had wade, bosh or anthony.

Jerry West one of the best gms EVER had some busts... anthony peeler, dahanty jones, etc..

danny ainge drafted gerald "super bust" greeen.

etc... etc...

Its hard to judge a players heart, which Brown had none.

Charolette would be lucky to have Jordan buy the team.

Jordan: Great player but horrible executive. See if his only bust was Kwame Brown he might be forgiven but he made a big mistake in Adam Morrison. That kid was a college player and nothing more.

Another error: Alexis Ajinca. He's a Eurobust in the making. I know Augustin is a solid point guard but for a team that needed size they were better off taking Brook Lopez at 9.

Also was Sean May on his watch because if so there is another error.

he can still redeem himself in the future...although kwame brown was a big bust, he should start learning from his mistakes...

Sean May was under Jordan's watch as well, just like when MJ traded Rip Hamilton to Detroit for Jerry Stackhouse, obviously he's blinded by bringin' in his UNC ties to the mix!
